Getting off the waitlist....

Curious if any kids got accepted after being placed on the waitlist. Would love to hear if any action was taken that you attribute to the status change. Lastly, if accepted did they enroll?

Yes, I had a client get off the waitlist at a top-tier school. I think it helped that the kid reached out and wrote a ‘renewed’ interest letter, stating how he 100% intended to enroll if accepted. And yes, he enrolled.

If you look at the common data set (google that term and the college name) it often - but not always - will show you how many students are placed on the waitlist, and how many students were offered a spot in the freshman class off the wait list.

At some schools, wait list = rejection. But not at all. Good luck!

Yes and yes

Wrote renewed LOI (and only after doing all the revisits, so late April.) Personally, I suspect that having stayed academically diligent really helped because that is not true for many seniors!. May have submitted another teacher LOR describing a recent academic accolade.

  1. Accept a place on the waitlist
  2. Look on Common Data Set of the college to see how many students are accepted off the waitlist to know your chances
  3. Choose one of your other schools and start acting like you are going there
  4. Let WL school know you would 100% attend if accepted
  5. Communicate updated activities/grades

My son was deferred EA and now waitlisted. He sent a letter of interest after being deferred. This university waitlists alot. Should he sent a letter or email. He is going to call the rep at the college next week to tell her about his continued interest and then send the letter.
