Getting Off Wait List! Help!

I decided to apply ED to Columbia because I was 100% certain it was my first choice of school. Well, today I was deferred by Columbia University. It was a really heartbreaking moment.

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice to getting off the waiting list. I know it is difficult, but I have encountered a few people who have done it before. I am very serious about Columbia. They have a great program for my major (French), and I want Admissions to know that. I have a few ideas. What do you think?
-Retake the January SAT or Feb ACT (Feb probably too late)
-Write and mail letter of interest to the University
-Keep up my senior grades (99 weighted GPA last semester)
-Try to personally speak with an admissions officer / regional admissions rep
-Speak with the Dean of Admissions

Good luck. Deferred is not the same as wait list.

You do realize deferral and wait-list are two completely different things right? It just means your ED application is now in the Regular Application pool.
You are not in any way on the waitlist for Columbia, you are still in the running to be accepted and will now just have to wait a little longer to see if you get in or not. No reason to fret just yet, cool your jets and stay the course of how you’re doing and whatever happens happens. Best of Luck to ya.
