I reported him >_>

Well said, MehediMD.

A professor I had at UCR went to UCSC – you know, one of the supposedly “third-tier” UC schools – and went to Harvard and Berkeley for grad school.

While it’s undeniable that people can and will judge on the “valued” prestige of a name, I say that it will be all the more amazing for you to stand out and break the stereotypes and negative associations of the university you attended. What I dislike about the people who bad-mouth Riverside is that it always seems like they’re playing the “I’m such a pathetic victim” card. It’s as if they are attributing their failures to UCR. In addition to being unfair, it shows that they don’t have the tightest grip on their life. If you don’t like UCR, then leave; don’t stay and whine.

@Whiteclock
hahaha high five!

@shesasensation
exactly! amen sister!

Thanks for your encouragement
Now i KNOW i have to go to a good grad school

Oh it was three years ago? My bad…

yeah… lets keep this thread from being revived. its just a fool’s rambling from years past.
onward to more useful/productive conversations and threads!

UCR’s awesome, go highlanders! [=
The End.

I’m a current UCR student and I chose it over UCLA, UCI, and UCSD, compared to other UC’s they have a very generous financial aid program. (IE. they paid for my first year at UCR). The professors are all top notch, because if you look at it this way - they might be a little lax on student admissions, but when it comes to the staff they only hire top notch profs. IE. My fresh hist prof. went to harvard, and taught at yale for 18 years. He also has multiple books published. Admissions at UCR might be lax, but the education is and will always be top notch. Its what you make of it that counts.

Yep, I agree UCLA.BOUND.

Admissions are not as selective, but the faculty all train the same way. They just go to whatever campus has an opening for them. My Media and Cultural Studies (MCS) professor is a VERY well respected interdisciplinary (he also does Women’s Studies and Sociology) scholar. Another professor I had said of the MCS professor, “He’s published more books than some people read. That’s not counting articles, reviews and other stuff.”

I chose UCR for financial aid too… but i would certainly not have chosen it over UCLA…

I would definitely pick it over Cal but not so sure of LA i would have to think long and hard
