URGENT: I found out about my acceptance to Penn state at UP two days ago but I realized I’ve been put into the summer session as well to then continue in the fall at UP. I was just wondering if there is any way for me to get out of the summer session? I know that people starting in the fall can request to do the summer session as well. but can people get out of it? Thanks!
If you originally asked for summer session as a first choice, it might be possible depending on your GPA and SAT/ACT scores. If summer session was your second choice, the answer is probably no. If you originally applied for a more competitive major, you may possibly be able to switch to DUS for fall, but that too would require high GPA and scores. Or you could switch to a branch campus with a fall start.

As kidncatz said above, unless you have a major change to your application such as a change in major or campus, getting reevaluated is not usually fruitful. If you applied for a very competitive major for fall and were put into summer, then you have the option of asking to be re evaluated for a less competitive major for fall. Baring that kind of change, you probably can’t ‘get out of it’. Gettting into PSU for summer or fall is very competitive. I’d be happy you got in at all!
