Hey guys,

I'm going to be starting in the summer, and I'm going to be renting an apartment off-campus, so I'm not going to meet people through the dorms. I'm wondering if you have any advice on ways to get connected and meet a lot of people during the summer? Are clubs active?

on-campus clubs are not active. BUT, although it’s not very likely you’ll be making “friends of a lifetime” through classes, those friends are nice too. Just get to know people in your class(es). The fellow classmates are easy to talk to because they’re probably as bored as you are, so they’re much more likely to be friendly.

Haha yeah meeting people from classes can help. It’s funny because when I was in high school taking college classes, I would make a few college friends but then after being in college, I try less lol. Maybe it’s because I already know people outside of class or something but anyway, I made some friends from class and hung out with them so that’s a good way. Also, if you are an incoming freshman, go to unit 2 (griffith or davidson) and they have events posted on the lobby wall. Sneak in with someone or look from the door and go to those. They’re quite fun and have a different crowd than the regular semester.

Other than that, maybe make a friend in a co-op or something.
