Getting prepared?

Hey guys, I’m a junior in high school, who’s currently freaking out- much more than is necessary- for college next year, for mainly one reason.
Barnard is my dream. It has been for a while now, and though I am keeping both my options and mind open, I would choose Barnard in a heartbeat over any other school.
To get to my question: my grades are just below average for Barnard, but my SAT score is a bit above with a 2200+, and I’m feeling somewhat confident in my writing.
However, I still want reassurance and to feel mentally sound, so my question is-

What can I do?
My dad wants me to call admissions and ask questions, but I just feel apprehensive about that as I wouldn’t know what to ask, or if people even do that, at all.
If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it; thank you all sooo much!!! :)

you should def call/email admissions with questions.
not stuff that you can easily find out on google, but any question with substance that you really want to know.
that’s what they’re there for, and showing interest is critical if you want them to know barnard is your #1.
(my sister currently attends)

I agree with drinksuited. Come up with good questions (such as if you should take this course over this course). Consider a visit over the summer or even look into their summer HS program if you can; if you live near by, ask if you can come and audit a class or something. My daughter is a dancer…during the summer before her Senior year she visited campus a couple of times (while participating in a 3 week summer dance intensive at NYU). Then during fall of her Senior year she watched a class (during her interview weekend) since she had mono at the time and could not dance. She returned a couple months later (in early Feb., I think, after applying and before knowing the decision) and actually took a dance class.

It’s always good to show a high level of interest. Don’t ask them silly questions, but DO take the time to communicate your interest and to find how to maximize your chances of admission…

thanks so much! I will definitely be giving admissions a call then, but it’s probably a good idea to form questions before I do that, lol. That will probably be the hardest part.
I’m definitely visiting this spring break, but my school’s spring break happens to be the same week Barnard is on spring break, so I can’t sit in on a class.
