Getting ready for Fall 2011 application to transfer

Hello everyone,

I'm currently a first-year at University of California-Santa Cruz, trying to transfer to Cal/Davis.

Current GPA: 3.5
Extracurriculars:
Residential Adviser
President for RA Council
CSA Hip-hop group

I don't know if they check my high school stats.. but here it is:
GPA: 3.2
Extracurriculars:
National Honor Society (2 years)
California Scholarship Federation (4 years)
Key Club (1 year)
Interact (1 year)
Leadership Program (4 years), including 1 year of ASB Office
PTSA Board (2 years)
Student Site Council Rep (3 years)
Bboy Club (1 year)
Morning Announcements (4 years)

Job: Tutoring (4 years)

Questions:

How does your GPA impact your chances on entering Cal? Because I saw that the admitted transfer students had a 25th - 75th percentile of 3.62 - 3.83. And my GPA does not reach those ranges, so I'm a bit scared.

Do you know if upper divs can be transferred to other UC's, if the course description is similar to the ones that they offer at the other UC? I've already satisfied all my prereqs, and I will not have any classes to take next year that will be of use to me.

Thank you for your time!

Hmmm…
First of all, your high school work will not be considered at all.
Second, UC-to-UC transfer is generally a lot harder to accomplish than transferring to a UC from a CCC. Your GPA should be competitive, in order for you to have a chance of getting into Cal.

Yes, I’ve generally heard that UC-UC transfer is low-priority, but at the same time, I’ve heard that UC-UC transfer is considered second after CC’s, and I just had a friend who was admitted to Cal/UCLA/Davis/Irvine, after a year at UCSC.

Which is why I can’t determine what exactly they’re REALLY looking for…besides GPA, of course.
