Getting ready to transfer - feel like drowning!

Hi all, I posted this in the transfer section but no one replied so apologies for the double post

So I’m looking to transfer for Spring '17. My situation is

  • International sophomore in NY community college studying finance
  • 4.0, president of club and lead editor for newspaper
  • Second in class in high school w/ awards etc but never took the SAT

I’m trying to navigate the transfer process but it’s extremely daunting. The bureaucracy at my current school means getting any help is near impossible.

Given my situation, what level of schools should I be setting my sights on? I can afford around $20k per year which is the cost of a four year state school in NY (Baruch being my ‘safety’).

Should I even bother applying to the top schools? Or should I just set my mind on my safety school and apply for a few LACs that tend to give aid to internationals (ie Skidmore, Wesleyan).

Any help or direction would be much appreciated, I’m beginning to pull my hair out

If you apply to top schools, how will you pay?

That $20k won’t go far at most of the top schools.

Also, transfers have a really tough time getting into those schools because there are no spots. You have to hope that someone drops out to make room for you.

Does Cornell have an articulation agreement with your school? Not sure how generous they are with fin aid to internationals, though.
