As I am applying RD to Harvard I was wondering if it is possible to get slotted as a recruited athlete (from abroad). I´ve had several conversations with my prospective coach and he seems to be really interested in me, now I was wondering if there have been any examples where an international student got recruited (and received a likely letter)....

If yes, is the recruiting process the same, i.e. prospective coach calling my coach for times/awards and calling my house etc.?

I appreciate any input...

Thanks

Yah good question! I always wondered that .. though I'm probably nowhere near being a recruit. Sorry can't help you :(

I don't know Harvard's policy, but for colleges in general, international students get recruited for US college sports all the time. For example some schools have been known to field cross country teams made up almost entirely of Kenyans.

It's a bit controversial. Schools that specialize in recruiting a lot of foreigners are sometimes criticized for cherry-picking athletes from abroad that are already developed rather than doing the hard work of developing domestic talent. But the answer to that is that US college coaches get hired and rewarded for winning, not for developing US talent. Most schools are somewhere in the middle. They recruit mostly Americans, but they are not adverse to adding several key foreign stars to strengthen their teams

you can definitely get recruited as an international.

i have a couple of questions though. what sport do you play? and are you a senior? because if you are a senior it is kind of late to be worrying about getting recruited, seeing as how applications are already due.

i can probably answer most of your questions about this isnce i just went through the whole process, so just provide the information and i'll help as much as possible.

How does harvard deal with the differences in grading scales and such....
