I was accepted to a few pretty selective colleges and in my acceptances letters they said they would check back in June to see if I was maintaining the academic standards that got me in. Not that Im totally slacking now, but Im just curious as to how bad you would actually need to do to get rejected after being accepted already. For a highly selective college, will they reject you after acceptance only if you fail or just if your gpa goes down a few points? Has anyone ever heard of a case like this?

... that's what we've been told by our counselers. If you fail a class, then expect your acceptance to be rescinded (sp?) by competitive schools (and probably not-as-comp. schools, too). If your grades drop a bit... we've been told they won't mind a few Bs or Cs, even if you've been an A-student all before.

Horror story that one of our history teachers likes to tell: Several years ago a soccer player from our school got accepted to UVA-- good fin. aid, was set to play for Virginia. Completely slacked off third term-- all Ds. Had his acceptance rescinded-- an "after careful consideration of your senior transcript we regret to inform you..."-- in June.

Ended up at the community college that August.
