Getting rejected from a College after being admitted?

Hello, my name's David. I don't mean to make this post this long and full of extraneous detail, but I am entirely concerned that I could be rejected from my college and this post is more or less, asking for advice if that will happen to me and how that works really. I've recently been admitted into the University of Washington, Seattle Campus which I'm ecstatic for. I'm currently a high school senior and I'm taking 5 classes, 4 of which are APs. One of the AP classes is AP Physics B, a class that I have intensely struggled in throughout the entire year. I finished that class with just a 70% in 1st semester but as of now, I'm currently failing that class and it's 4th quarter right now. I do not like my teacher and have gone several times for help but it wasn't really all that useful. I don't dislike the subject--I just have a hard time understanding and contextualizing the concepts, and like I said, it's been an entire year struggle. I had an outside tutor first semester and that didn't help really so I started second semester without one. I was actually doing well before ultimately regressing back into failing grades. Admittedly, it's my fault for seriously trying to fix my situation this late into the year but I've recently gone and talked with my counselor about it. My AP Calculus grade is currently a 70% right now which I'm a bit concerned about, but mainly it's Physics. My other classes all have A's and one B+. To give you context of my academic background, my cumulative GPA prior to second semester was 3.5 and my superscored SAT score is a 2080. I'm also Vice-President of a Business club, President of the Environmental Club, and an Officer on a Mentoring Program at school. I'm also involved with the school orchestra so I have a decent amount of activities on my plate besides schoolwork.

Ultimately, my main concern is having to deal with the prospects of getting rejected from UW. I honestly don't believe senioritis is the reason for my sub-par grade in Physics as I do really feel that I am trying but just can't seem to get the grade. I'm worried that UW will see my transcript and believe I'm goofing off but I've been doing all I can do, at least as far as I know. From your guys' experiences/knowledge, how does a college exactly reject a student? What do they see in a student's transcript that makes reject that student? What does that entail? From the brief info about myself, is my bad grade in Physics enough to reject me from college, specifically UW? For that matter, if I'm rejected which is the worst case scenario, how do I apply to another college if the committal date to colleges is on May 1st?

I really am frustrated at my lack of performance in Physics and do not believe it accurately reflects the student I truly am. Hopefully I don't come across as snobbish or ignorant in this post. I just want honest feedback and that's all.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this and if you have any advice, please share. Help a poor senior out here! Thank you!

Man…I don’t know. I am in the same boat as you…well kind of… :stuck_out_tongue:
I’m taking AP chem, and I have maintained a B’s so far…but since it’s the last quarter…I’m like doing so badly. haha…as in like I got a 27% for my first chem final (I have like 3 more chem finals to go. Joy). SENIORITIS SUCKS.
If you do fail the class though, I’d call in the college right away and tell them about your situation. They MIGHT overlook it, and just tell you to do a summer class or something to make up the failing grade? But I’m not entirely sure. I’d ask you guidance counselor.

GOOD LUCK! Finish strong…(says the person who’s barely holding on…) :)

Odds are you should be fine. Usually the colleges will rescind an offer only if there is a large drop across the board. You have a greater chance of having the acceptance withdrawn if you are involved in something like cheating, bullying, etc. To ease your mind, why not contact admissions and let them know the situation.

If its been a year long struggle, I doubt you’ll get rescinded but you may want to call the admissions office and explain your situation.

Have you ever looked up videos to help you…
