My brother has 1 A 4 Cs and 1 F

Is he in danger of being rescinded from University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign?

He said that he knows someone who got all Ds and did not get rescinded. Does UIUC rescind at all?

rescind for sure if you get a ‘F’, holy crab, not good at all …

He’d better have a good reason for all that…if not then he’d better have a good plan to fix all that to show that he’s still dedicated to being the student the university thought he was when it admitted him.

He’s definitely in danger of getting rescinded from the F alone, especially in combination with 4 Cs.

ok, but does anyone know their policy in print? I looked on their website and could find absolutely nothing about it.

If those grades remain I would be veryyyyy shocked if he didnt get it taken away.

I don’t think most schools put policies in print. I’m pretty sure it’s done on a case-by-case basis.

When you apply you do agree to a policy with something along the lines of that the school has the right to rescind any offer of admission if there is evidence of a significant drop in academic standing, or conduct (eg. cheating, suspension, etc). The school has to have the policy in print and it was on the application when he signed.

Of course, the policy is pretty vague, but most people tend to think that an F is a serious risk for rescinding. If he can woo the school with an explanation though, it might be alright. It’s up in the air it would seem.

I would try to warn the college in advance and give them the best excuse you can. I’d also do everything to get that F up to at least a C. I think most teachers would provide opportunity for extra work, test retakes, extra credit etc. to help a student pass if they make a sincere effort.

Yes, he is definitely “in danger”! Tell him to shape up if he can and if it’s too late, prepare some good excuses…

Anyone know if one D (senior fall semester) will get you rescinded for almost sure from UC’s? or several C’s? (not both)

UC specifically said you should at least have a 3.0 GPA and no classes lower than a ‘C’
whether they will strictly enforce the rule is another matter …

Since he is trying to get into UIUC I doubt he will care what UC says.

He said that he knows someone who got all D’s and did not get rescinded from UIUC
But that person did get rescinded from Carnegie Mellon

His grades dropped from 2Bs 2Cs and 1D 1st semester, and now it is 1B, 3Cs, 1D, and 1 F (maybe will get higher?)

its not really a significant drop but more of a downward trend (every year GPA is lower)

would they send a warning before outright rescinding?

I’m told colleges often ask for an explanation before a recission - particularly to give a student a chance to explain a situation involving a personal tragedy, etc.
