How poorly do you have to do in 2nd semester to get rescinded from Northwestern if you're taking 8 academic classes and 4 APs?

Try not to get C's.

C’s can get you rescinded?

No. Just try not to fail anything.

so as far as all of this, do they like send you a letter and make you explain yourself or is it just bye?

^haha yea i’m wondering the same.

If you are failing or doing badly or even worried, just call them up and ask them. They will usually be nice about it. Just make sure to warn them before hand.

Aight.

So, basically if I drop NO D’s or F’s, I’m safe???

-The Man whose not Korean

lol why worry so much? just do the work like you’ve been doing for the past 4 yrs and everything will be fine. why try pushing your luck by getting the lowest possible grades w/o getting rescinded?

So, I don’t not stressed out.

Call me crazy, but I really don’t feel like working hard second semester senior year when I’m already in a great university.

so don’t work “hard” - just work “enough” :P

What would a C be on a out of 100 scale?

75? (10 char)

Yeah. A C is anywhere from a 73-76.

Okay, here’s the thing; I’m taking a full courseload of 8 classes.

Even kids who are going to elite schools like Northwestern from my HS take 6 or 7 classes.

Out of my 8 classes, 4 are APs and 1 is honors.

What’s enough, though?

4 C’s
And the rest B’s and A’s

Is that okay?

^There’s no formula to calculate if you’d be rescinded or not. Personally, 4 C’s would look bad regardless of your courseload. I would call NU because nobody on here would know if you’d get rescinded.

If you’re a straight A (or close to it) student, you can bet that it’ll raise some red flags if your end of the year report shows that you have 4 C’s…I would not risk it if I were you. You’ve worked hard for what I’m assuming is around 15/16 of your entire high school education, why would you even contemplate risking losing it all? And in the event that you do get 4 C’s at the end of the year, you can expect NU to contact you and ask you why…

For the record, I’m taking 4 APs and 3 Honors, plan on finishing the year with straight A’s, and have been hanging out with friends after school and on weekends even more than I used to before. Figure out what works for you, just don’t let it slide too much.

^wow you must be either really smart, or have easy classes…w/e it is i’m jealous…

Do colleges (Northwestern in particular, of course) rescind students for grades relative to the student’s high school, of is it just “don’t get below a C”? My school is a well-known public school in NY, so if I get say an 88 second term when I’m used to averaging higher, would that be alright? Would my senioritis not look as bad? :]

This is a baseless assumption but one I’m going to make anyway: going from even a 97 average to an 88 second term won’t get you into any trouble, but going from 97 to 78 is a whole different story (meaning it may or may not be of concern to colleges)
