Getting Shredded for School

<p>So I'm about to start college and I want to get bigger so students don't ask if I'm visiting or something. Anyways, I need a supplement. I used generic brands at first (one of them was awful and it always clumped up and then gave me diarrhea, it's like 10.99 for a huge jug at wal-mart and there's this guy on there with his back facing the front and his arms stretched out. Body Fortress, that's what it was, don't EVER get that) and eventually I asked people that I worked out with and a couple of them recommended EAS Myoplex. So I got that and it worked really well for me, paired with creatine it helped me gain a lot of muscle. Anyways, my supply ran out, and now the cheapest I can find is ridiculously expensive (62.00 with shipping included for a 42 pack...I thought it was pretty damn high when it was 45.00 for a 47 pack when I first got it). So I thought I'd ask the scholars and athletes, and maybe even the scholar athletes a) if you know some secret cheap place to get Myoplex and b) what brands you all use/have used/recommend/don't recommend. Thanks in advance.</p>

<p>you really don't need supps to build muscle. creatine occurs in the body naturally; if you eat the right foods, you'll be getting the same results, if not better, as if you were using supps. the only advantage to supps is convenience. i say save the money on something more useful. but if you want to buy supps, then you're gonna have to spend money. you want good brands, as you have had experience. L-glutamine, creatine, myoplex are great, but costly.</p>

<p>yeah, my brother was taking some kind of "muscle builder" he found at Smoothie King and was gaining like 12-15 pounds a day which I didn't think was possible. It only works if you exercise with it, though.</p>

<p>id say skip the supplements and go for high-protein foods and major exercise. if you have to have supplements, spend the money. either way, you're going to have to spend money--either on the right foods (not cheap junk) or the right supplements.</p>

<p>you guys dont really read bb forums do you? To get big your more often than not gonna need supplements, because its close to impossible to obtain all and the right amt of nutrients from raw foods. Id recommend Optimum 100% whey, pretty cheap, also has egg, casein, and pro complex for different times of the day. 32 Servings, but its legit, cheap ish too...i forget how much exactly though. May I recommend BSN's Nitrix, No-Explode, Cellmass stack. I took it during my last bulking session, and let me tell ya...thats good ish</p>

<p>ferstammendment you haven't read burn the fat, feed the muscle by tom venuto have you? apparantly not, because you don't need even need ONE supplement to get good results. supps are just convenience. the only possible supps you would need are some multi vitamins and whey protein ONLY for convenience.</p>

<p>I havnt read that book, but some things like BCAA's that should be taken, should be supplemented...glutamine doesnt occur abundantly enough in the body to be effective for muscle recovery. Of course you dont need supplements to get big, but taking the proper supplements you can make optimum gains...and its pretty damn hard to get in 1.5x you weight in protein without help...especially if your big already</p>

<p>high protein foods and lifting will get you built quick. eat a lot and eat frequently. my day usually consists of 6-8oz chicken breasts anytime im hungry, some wheat toast in the morning, and pre/post-workout shakes. supplements are okay but arent necessary. this isnt really the best place to ask such questions so check out bodybuilding.com.</p>

<p>If you want to supplement, supplement with a mutli-vitamin and whey protein. High Protein diet. Atleast 1g per body weight. Workout and go from there.</p>
