I'll start by telling you a little bit about me. I'm a senior at a high end private school. I'm a B average student and I'm not all into the "take the highest and hardest classes offered at the school" type thing. I'm closing in on the deadline where I need to choose a college in which to attend. More recently, I've been getting very stressed out over what and where I want to go. I haven't really looked too much into school only because I'm not sure what I want to major in. I'm a hardcore gamer and love computers. I'm terrible at math so programming doesn't sit well with me. I'd like to do something in the field of computers or video games but do not know what. I really just don't know what I'm going to do. I'm so worried over this and can't seem to come to a decision as to where I want to go and what I want to do with the rest of my life.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

sorry to butt in on your thread but, if anyone comes across this would you mind pm-ing me how to post a new thread lol...this site is confusing :(

Upper left, button that says "new thread"

^^^all I see is "post reply"
w.e. I'll just go to another website this is super annoying.
sorry again!

What about looking into Web design or Graphic Design as majors? What sort of school are you thinking about....large, medium small? Public or Private? What State or area of the country? Give us some more to go on.

definitely think about boston university... it's a little on the big side, but it has a strong comp sci department. i'm not sure how stiff the competition is, but judging by its size i'd say it's moderately more relaxed than other schools of its level.

I'd like to go to a college on the East coast because of where I live (although I wouldn't mind somewhere out near Vegas either). I've been giving it a lot of thought and am really interested in something to do with computer animation or gaming design. I honestly do not think I'd be happy doing anything else in my life. I recently stumbled upon the Art Institute of Miami which offer a few of these courses.

Size isn't too much of an issue but something too big doesn't interest me. Medium sized colleges are what I'm more into.

I did a search on collegeboard and here are the medium sized colleges that came up on the East coast for computer gamimg and animation.

American University
Art Institute of Atlanta
Art Institute of Pittsburgh
Champlain College
East Tennessee State University
Fashion Institute of Technology
New England Institute of Technology
Philadelphia University
Rochester Institute of Technology
Savannah College of Art and Design
State University of New York College at Oneonta
University of Baltimore
Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Shadow, I don't mean to add to your stress, but YOU choosing a school is only half the process. The school has to also choose you. That's why most kids search for and apply to several schools, instead of just one. Somewhere in that bunch of schools you make a good match.

I'd recommend searching for 6 schools:
Graphics major - reach
Graphics major - match
Graphics major - safety
Undecided major - reach
Undecided major - match
Undecided major - safety

Good luck.
