Getting the 800 in SAT Math

I am close to getting an 800 I am getting 3-4 wrong overall on past papers. Any advice of how to break the 800, Getting 4 wrong brings it sometimes to a 700 which is not reperesntative of my ability.

I am noting the queestions I get wrong etc. but can anoyone offer advice, maybe a prep book I should get.

My maths is largely proficinet. Any advice would be great, the blue book isn’t enough thanks guys.

hi gl bye

@NearMello not sure how active these forums are on a Saturday in the US…

As someone who has scored 800 twice, a lot of it comes down to simply finding ways to eliminate stupid mistakes. Allot yourself enough time at the end of each section to double-check each problem. To actually check, you could try plugging in numbers to see if your answer makes sense, or try solving it a different way, etc.

@MITer94

Hey sorry unaware to that.

Nicely done. I am usually good in deciding whether a problem should be solved algebraically or with guess work. Itis usually the longer questions at the end that I drop marks on.

Would you encourgage me to do the SAT in less tiem so to force me to work quicker?

Thanks for your help

@NearMello Work as quickly as you can, but without sacrificing accuracy (that is also important!). Usually the easier level 1/2 questions can be solved in 15-30 seconds. This will leave you more time for the level 4/5 questions. Don’t rush on those - it’s very easy to get misled or fall into some trap. I have almost made those mistakes on the SAT (even on a couple medium-difficulty questions) but with some good checking, I was able to fix them.

@MITer94 thanks for your help. I will do this.
