Getting the most aid possible

I have finally received all of my financial aid packages from each of my schools. I did not receive the amount of aid that I would have liked to from any of my colleges. On my Drexel application it said that my EFC was about $1800 however no school has given me enough to fulfill this number. Was I incorrect in thinking that colleges would create packages to be equivalent to this number? The most I received from a school still left almost 15k to pay out of pocket. I am on my own to pay for college however much it cost me will be how much debt I will receive and 60k+ seems like an awful lot of money. I plan on majoring in computer science and have a job guaranteed out of college. Is this too much debt to handle? If it is how do I go about receiving more aid? Do I appeal to some of the less prestigious schools or is it still worth pursuing some of the schools that are more prestigious but gave me less money?

“no school has given me enough to fulfill this number”

Yep, not all the schools are full-need. In case you happen to be an international, the list of full-need schools is severely limited.

One girl that I know received an acceptance from Northeastern, with a message along the lines of: “we’ve been very impressed with your app, if you could bring an extra 30k per year, we’d be happy to have you as a student” :)

I’d say do appeal to schools which allow you to(some don’t).

Actually MOST colleges do NOT meet full need for all accepted students. Your FAFSA EFC should be viewed as the MINIMUM you will be paying. You, the student, can NOT borrow $15,000 a year without a cosigner.

Hopefully there were some affordable schools on your acceptances list.
