How much, if at all, would it help me to get in my app around December 10 as opposed to December 31? What would be the benefit: demonstrated higher interest, get a better read, more lenient reading, or nothing at all?

nothing at all unless its rolling admissions

They do say early apps get a better read, but I don't think anything would be considered early now.

Well I know that Harvard reads applications based on when you submitted it and chances are that they will be more lenient with the first half of the applications that they read. Thats why I submitted my Dartmouth Application right before Thanksgiving for Regular Decision, a little over a month early before the January 1st deadline. Hopefully Dartmouth follows a similar process as Harvard even though Harvard doesn't early decision or action
