Getting There: Student Visits

If kids are flying into Burlington by themselves, what is the easiest and least expensive way for them to get to campus? (and conversely, easiest way back to burlington to catch a flight). I would think there is a standard procedure... bus or something.

Also, if a kid wants to visit the school but can only reasonably get away for a weekend, does anyone know how that works to stay overnight if they don't have friends that currently attend? Or is it best for a parent to go along?

Transportation Information
here is the link for transportation to Midd. my daughter uses Middlebury Transit mostly, but has also used Jessica's. costs around $40 each way from the airport. Students can usually go in a group and the rate goes down. Unfortunately, when you are visiting and have a certain pick up and drop off time, you pay the full fare. They are easy to use though and very dependable. I think overnight visits on weekends are frowned upon as they want the kids to be able to attend classes. Your child probably has a day off here or there that a trip could be arranged.

I had been to that link and frankly, was confused by the whole bus thing and ground transportation from the airport. So this is helpful, but will probably end up considering just going with and maybe getting in another school if we try a long weekend. However, depending on when and we're trying to plan this ASAP, he really doesn't have any days off that wouldn't prove a huge upcharge in airfare (like president's day or whatever) plus wouldn't middlebury also not have class on those days? The kid absolutely HATES to miss class and feels like missing one AP is like missing a week and Monday and Friday are days when you have every class.

If your son already has applied, why not wait for an admissions decision and visit if he is accepted? There is an accepted students program in the spring that includes visits to classes, overnights with students, and lots of activities.

Good idea, arcadia. My D really enjoyed the Accepted Students Day last Spring and met with a faculty member in an area of interest and attended classes, as well as meeting other possible pre-frosh Midd kids. It was a wonderful experience.

Though she ultimately chose another school that was a much better "fit" for her, we all loved everything about Middlebury (except maybe the weather?? haha) and would recommend it highly for those who want that kind of rural, top-notch academic experience.
