Getting those recommendations...

I think this is the part of transferring that I am worried about the most. One of the schools I'm applying to requires two faculty recs, with one preferably within my major (psychology) and one rec from the Dean of Students.

So...my problem is that so far, I've only taken one psych class, Psychology 100 Intro to Psychology. It is a large lecture class with over 400 students. I am doing extremely well in the class. In fact, I'm acing it. But the professor has no clue who I am or who any of the students are. So I can't really ask him for a rec, unless he just writes it based on my grades...

I might be taking an another psych class next semester, if it doesn't fill up before my registration period begins. But even if I do get into that class, it doesn't start until February and I would have to be asking the teacher for a rec around mid February at the latest, and the teacher wouldn't have anything really to base a recommendation off of.

So, my question basically is - do I ask my psych 100 prof for a rec, or just get two recs from other professors I had this semester and forget about getting one from a teacher in my major?

Thanks!

If you have not done so already, I would ask this question by way of e-mail or phone to someone in the admissions office of the prospective college.

I know that some colleges, in the absence of a relationship between teacher and student, will accept recommendations from TA's.

I would think only a member of the admissions office could tell you how important it is to have a recommendation from a prof. who teaches a class within your major.
