getting to classes via

What happens with getting around to your classes and locating them if you're bringing a car and you don't have a bike yet? Should I get one ASAP or...how do I get to and from campus, where can I park?

I have classes in Embarcadero, Phelps/Campbell Hall areas... and I'm coming from Santa Catalina

you honestly do NOT want to bring your car to and from campus everyday. the parking pass you got isn’t for parking on campus, so you’ll have to pay for parking when you go there.
what you’ll want to do is take the bus. the 27 will get you to iv, and you can walk to embarcadero and iv theater. it’s a really really short walk from where it drops you off. and the 24x/27/23 will get you to campus at north hall, where you can just walk over to whatever class you have.
however, you’ll need your fall registration sticker to use to bus for free, so order it as soon as your classes are paid for.
hope this helps :]

Thank you very much!! :)

try motorcycles, free parking like everywhere designated.

Yeah, driving to campus is really rare (although I did it a few times when I had night classes after 5pm when you can park on campus for free with the Night & Weekend pass). There’s a bus stop right out side Santa Catalina and there’s a number of bus lines that go to the North Hall bus stop in the middle of campus (most people not biking from Santa Catalina take this bus).

So I already applied for a parking permit for santa catalina so i can frequent home,

however I was wondering if I should bring a bike with me or just wait it out and just take the bus to class?..Do alot of freshmen usually take the bus?

Most people bike (even from Santa Catalina)… that way you can go at your convenience instead of the bus. Also, it makes it easier when you want to visit friends in Isla Vista, go to Pardall for food, get closer to your classrooms on campus, etc. If you don’t already have a bike, you can pick up a cruiser for about $100 at the KMart up the street from Santa Catalina.

^ Oh damn…thanks for the tip!

Are the bikes legit for the price though?

Oh and I really need some advice as to how I am moving in, I’m bringing my car to leave there but my parents are also coming with their car to help bring my things and unload…
However the problem is I need to leave my car somewhere while unloading…My parents are leaving that day after helping out.

Can someone please give me a layout of what I should do? I’m moving into Santa Catalina Sat 3-4 (according to my floor…)

^anyone?~

10char

try to load all ur stuff into one car and use ur PASS with that car. leave the other car elsewhere.

^ thank you for replying! Where would I leave it though?

Well if your bringing your car that would mean that you purchased a parking permit. You would just leave your car in the residential parking lot that you were assigned to.

^ but it says not to park in santa catalina’s lot during opening weekend…
also, does this include sunday night?

you could keep it parked at k-mart while your parents are helping you unpack. have them use the parking pass in their car while you guys are getting your room set up, then when they are leaving, have them take you back up to k-mart, give you the parking pass, and you park your car in one of the garages they let you use on opening weekend.

it’s complicated, but an option haha.
