Getting to Dartmouth

What is the most convenient way to get to Dartmouth besides having someone driving you there?
For those of you coming for New York, from NYC for that matter, what do you consider to be the most convenient way for me to get there?

Which bus and or train would you recommend?

Thanks.

I preferred the train to the bus - if the Montrealer still exists, take that.

You will still need to get from White River to Hanover either way.

But from NYC, a car would be better yet.

By Car from NYC, it would be about a 4 hour drive. The train would take at least 6 hours.

i know that there is a commuter flight that goes from NYC to west lebanon (i think) an airport thats a 10 min drive from Dart.

We have done the drive, bus and the train.
D's now flies Jet blue from JFK to boston (1 hour) then takes the Dartmouth coach from logan to campus. Dartmouth coach -$55 round trip, flights are as low as $39 each way.

For thanksgiving break, Dartmouth has buses that leave Hanover and go to NYC and back.

anybody from south or west...do southwest airline to manchester
then Vermont transit bus 70 minutes to hanover inn.the beauty of southwest is if you miss a flight or want to change they just bank your money for your next trip with no penalty..however best fares are alway 2 weeks or more out.
you do southwest directly on their own web site..not listed on middlemen like expedia etc. in the 3 years my son has used them back and forth from florida rarely late and always cheap....from northeast they do fly from philly to manchester, not from ny airports

vermont transit has easy web page just click on map anywhere on route and times will show up...they change every 3 months or so and sometimes add 2 more buses during the 2 days before school begins or during breaks..careful with am and pm (difference in boldness)

No, no, no. From NYC, definitely the easiest way is to take the Fung Wah Bus (only $15 to Boston South Station), then from there take the Dartmouth Coach, which is $30 one-way, or $45 round trip.

<a href="http://www.fungwahbus.com/%5B/url%5D">http://www.fungwahbus.com/</a></p>

<a href="http://www.concordtrailways.com/dartmouth_coach.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.concordtrailways.com/dartmouth_coach.htm</a></p>

Car or bus -- any other way and you'll have to take a car or bus from the drop-off point to campus anyway.

If you can get to Logan airport or South Station -- the Dartmouth Coach picks up at both of those places and drops you off right in front of the Hanover Inn, across from the Green. Very convenient.

I believe the bus from Manchester drops off at the Hanover Inn as well.

west coaster here:

S has done both Manchester and Logan, and (barely) prefers nonstop into Logan and out of Manchester which requires a plane change to get home. Dartmouth Coach has more frequent service to the airports than does Vt transit.

Fortunately, due to price competition, the fares into Manchester are similar (among major carriers or SWA), when booked in advance.
