Getting to know the Class of 2015!

ahh! sup tanya! and everyone else!

my name is jennifer. i’m not sure if i’m going to attend ucsb, but i stayed there for the oclc (orange county leadership camp) with my asb/student government. and it was… AWESOME. love the dining halls. i’m from orange county too, specifically in central/northern. so yes, i’m pretty poor! i love to watch movies (co-pres at my school’s movie club) and listen to music. like, seriously, i get it “on” with any music!@!!1!!! indie rock/pop is more my “thing” but i love lo-fi, some metal, jazz, classical, some top 40, some country, i can go on and on… i’ve only been to one real concert and it was bomb. yeah. i don’t know how to swim. sob. but i sorta self-taught myself how to float!!! and this summer i hope i learn how to tread lol

anyway i prob seem like i talk a lot but i’m actually pretty quiet. i laugh a lot though! i love the office, weeds, how i met your mother, friends, stephen colbert, conan, ricky gervais, bill maher, mitch hedberg, steve martin (alum from my high school!)…

and i hate high school!!! can’t wait to get out of this hell hole.

and i don’t like alcohol. i’m not sure how i’m going to fit in at ucsb LOL

i don’t drink either, but i’m sure SB will be just as fun without getting drunk. I might give IV a try but I don’t think college will turn me into a party animal haha. my asb went to that as well, el toro high school chargers! where do you go to school? I used to live in Anaheim, but I moved to Lake Forest when I was in elementary school and now I live in Irvine. I don’t know how to swim either!! hahaha but I love the ocean/water!! My favorite shows are pretty typical for a socal girl…gossip girl, 90210, pretty little liars, jersey shore, glee, greys anatomy, life unexpected, pretty much anything on the CW! hahaha.

My name is Zhi, born in China and immigrated here to California 7 years ago, and I might just end up at SB! Not 100% positive yet though, because I’ll be coming from Sacramento from up north and having no family down in SB frightens me and also my dad’s incomprehension of English is a burden to me if i was to going a far distance >.> therefore i’m still contemplating between a more local UC and SB! SB’s diversity in ethnicity is certainly a plus/preference for me. I was accepted into the ChemE major in the College of engineering and would love to attend UCSB :frowning: Dilemma …

Hi Zhi!
I definitely think you should attend SB! I know it’s tough leaving your home and going out into the world alone, but it has to be done! This is the time of our lives when we need to escape the nest and learn how to live on our own and become independent. Sacramento isn’t too far from SB, probably a little bit farther than OC, but it’s always possible to go home for a weekend if needed. Congrats on your acceptance!

@Tanya - I’m a girl lol and yes we will be playing on the same team! I’ve met the coach before – he’s so nice!!

haha yay  i don’t even know how try outs work…i’ve met him once (at the UCSB Shootout Tournament) but I didn’t really talk to him. I’m not even sure if I’ll play…it’s all up in the air right now, I guess.

yeah, same here… i hear it can be a big commitment but i guess we will just have to see!

So am I gonna see you guys at the open house?!

jazzdancegoof- yeah i know, I don’t know if I want to carry that burden throughout college, but I also want to stay fit. Do you know if SB has a gym?

AtticLights- I don’t know…when is it? April 9? I’m going up on April 2nd (for a tour) because I’m going to Polycultural weekend at Cal Poly SLO from April 8-10.

Hi guys!
My name is Sara! I already sent in my SIR so I will definitely be a gaucho next year. I’m from Granite Bay in the Sac area and after college I want to go to med school (at least that’s what I’m thinking). I don’t drink either so it’s nice to know I’m not the only one =) I love all kinds of music, especially Indie/Alternative. I love movies, my friends and I have Saturday movie nights every weekend. I speak Spanish pretty well even though I’m like the whitest person ever (literally. I’m really pale.) Congrats to everyone who got accepted! I hope to meet you guys soon!

@Zhi - First off, your name is so cool, how do you pronounce it? And second, I totally agree with tsilva. I know where I live a lot of people stay close because of family and then end up regretting it because they lose a lot of their independence. My parents really wanted me to go to Davis and I was torn because a lot of my friends are going there too. Ultimately though, I had to think about what was best for me. I needed somewhere that I could live my own life. So just think about what’s right for you and then no matter where you decide to go I’m sure you’ll be happy =)

The open house is April 9th, 9am-3pm :)

Hi Alexandra, Jennifer, Zhi, and Fred! Hope to see you guys next year :)

Sara! I’m glad we can be non-drinking buddies! I’m so excited that there will be people at SB that don’t get wasted all the time haha. I love movie weekend as well! We should all totally do a huge movie night in our dorms or common areas! Everyone should add me on Facebook (y0tanyasilva@yahoo.com), it’s easier to communicate with people on there! Plus, it’ll put a face to all these names.

And AtticLights, I won’t be there…but I hope you have fun! Tell me all about it later :)

Certainly will  ohmigosh, a movie night sounds really fun…hahaha I feel excited for next year already…hopefully everything will work out!

Hooray! Haha yeah totally! I’d take movies over beer anyday!
You guys are welcome to add me too! I would love to get to know people before the year starts! Look me up on facebook sfrederiksen@live.com. It should say Del Oro High School.
