Getting to know you

I’m black. Well, almost. My mom and brother are blonde, my dad is a typical eastern european… and I’m more tan than a lot of my middle-eastern friends(((

I speak 3 languages fluently. And learning another 2. when someone asks me how many languages i know i always say a different number (between 1 and 5)

I LOOOVE europe) I am glad i am at least Eastern european))))

and i love to party, even though i am a little shy. and champagne. and guys.

i have the most horrible accent ever. we moved here from Ukraine when i was 14. usually when people here me they are like “i like ur accent”… and than thay can’t understand anything)))

christmas is best holiday everrrrrr!!! i love snow, christmas tree and, well, everything about it!!! and i can’t live without cold winters, snow, and ice skating.

i’m not ur typical russian immingrant. not only because i’m not really russian and not an immigrant, but because i’m not crazy about usa ( like in " usa is the best place in the world")

i want to be a doctor but the last time i got a shot i was close to fainting

the best place to go in the summer is Turkey. I just love how so many mainly Russians, Germans and Italians pay insane amount of money ( seriously, cancun is cheaper) to get completly wasted every day for 2 weeks… It’s so much fun!))))

1) I have no sense of what most people call “boundaries”. I’m not ashamed of what I do or think and my life is an open book. Sometimes this scares people off a bit because I don’t hold back and can say some pretty revealing things about myself in a context most people wouldn’t be willing to, so my other 8 things may be quite surface-like or quite revealing-- I wouldn’t know.
2) I struggle with the fact that while I can play several instruments I’m not a musician. I just can’t seem to translate my inner voice to something outside of me, lasting, and beautiful. Sometimes I just want to run out to a cabin in the woods with my guitar and some according equipment and not leave until I’ve finally found my voice. This is something that eats at me nearly every moment of every day.
3) I am desperately searching for my cause in this world. I’ve never really been inspired and engaged to the point of truly stepping up and giving everything I’ve got to anything. Not a relationship, not a friendship, not a class, not an extracurricular. I just can’t seem to find that thing that gives me a little extra spark that kicks me into high gear. I know I could do something truly wonderful if I could ever put my all into it-- I’ve made a pretty good life for myself half-assing my way through everything. I’m just having trouble finding that extra motivation to be truly consumed. I think this is why I love television, film, and reading- I’m pretty sure I could be a hero were some outrageous situation to come up where I would have the opportunity to do something awesome. It just hasn’t come up yet.
4) Since my girlfriend of three years broke up with me 2.5 years ago I haven’t been on one date. Not because I’ve been turned down or because I’m not ready, but because I’ve decided not to date someone just for the sake of seeing where things go. The last time that happened I ended up with someone I loved but not someone I’d ever be in love with. I’ve been happier for it. I’m thinking about opening up that circle a bit, however, since I’ve only ever dated people I was relatively good friends with first and I guess there’s nothing wrong with getting to know someone as you date them rather than before.
5) I’m a music elitist and I’m proud of that fact. And I’m not an indie hipster either-- they’re not elitist, just self-righteous. I’m extremely picky and not particularly predictable in what I’d like. As someone attempting to be a musician, good music to me has to have some quality I know I could never capture, some little uniqueness coming from some angle that I realize makes the entire composition and is something I just couldn’t have come up with.
6) I have no problem admitting I love a good romance. Book or movie. And no, I’m not less of a man for it.
7) My family is the most important thing in the world to me. I don’t think that’s clear to a lot of people who meet me. I’m not the kind of person that’s constantly spending time at home and hanging out with my family, all of that kind of stuff that people usually associate with family-oriented people. Despite that, I live and die by my family.
8) I hate reading on a computer screen. Give me a book in my hands and I can sit for hours. A PDF is almost painful to struggle through a page.
9) I’m a current student and I’m not even sure why I enjoy coming here. I really do love Brown and love thinking about education and I guess this has just been one outlet for me to talk about those two things.

I’m paranoid about what I eat

People think I’m really stupid, but I’m actually really smart

Debate is life. Argument theory excites me. For all you debaters out there, there is nothing that feels greater than when you’re up at the podium and you can link turn every single one of your opponents points.

I want to be the type of speaker that can inspire people. I compete in original oratory, and 95% of the speakers are boring as hell, but there are the few that make you want to listen and want to root for them. Through speech, I want to be able to impact people and make them think about what we can do to make the world better.

I secretly wish I were talented enough to do sketch comedy. Like Tina Fey.

I would marry John Oliver in a heartbeat.

I don’t eat chocolate.

I’m one of the last humans alive without cable TV, and I don’t mind. The only cable shows I watch are Stewart and Colbert on Hulu.

I love Gossip Girl (books and tv show) and I’m not ashamed.

Dorky science stuff is really cool. I work in a lab and at a conference my labmates went to, they brought me back periodic table refrigerator magnets. I also have one of those clear coffee mugs that’s basically a beaker with a handle. I know exactly how many mL of coffee I have left!

My favorite song changes daily, right now it’s “legionaire’s lament” by the Decemberists.

i dont eat chocolate either! people think i’m strange

1) I love, love looveee history. European in particular. but i’m not going to be a history major (I’d like to actually have a job after i graduate)

2) I’m a major klutz. I trip over my own feet all the time.

3) I’m one of, if not the, most liberal person I know. Personally, I think socialism is a great idea, and Communism was just executed too poorly to work properly.

4) my friends absolutly hate it when I drive and I force them to listen to my music, because most of them have never heard of the indie bands I listen to.

5) speaking of driving… I like to drive fast. It makes me angry when there’s someone in front of me going the speed limit. or 5 over… or 10. actually, just when there’s someone in front of me at all.

6) My penmanship is absolutly dreadful. it’s an odd mixture of cursive, print, and scribbling.

7) I have a crazy insane memory for trivia. my friends encourage me to be on jeapordy, and it’s gotten to the point when teachers ask a question, they’ll add “someone other than stacy” to the end. It makes me come off as a stuck-up know it all to some, but whatever. I remember what outfit i was wearing on my 11th birthday, and what tie my future prom date was wearing the first day i met him about a year ago. small little details just stick in my brain, and i can recall mundane memories from years ago almost perfectly. (yet I can’t remember formulas for my AP Calc test tomorrow)

8) My vocabulary is one of my most prized possesions. I use words like exorbitant and tome in daily conversation.

9) I don’t really let anyone in. What I really want and who I feel I truly am really only shows in my writing, which is why i rarely show it to anyone.

bonus!) I have a burning desire to be other places, to live abroad, experience what else there is, find who i’m going to be… and after I do all of that, I want to come back to Maine and raise my kids here.

“1) I love, love looveee history. European in particular. but i’m not going to be a history major (I’d like to actually have a job after i graduate)”

Nary has worse reasoning existed…

1) Well, since this is CC, I will start with my academic interest, International Relations. It encompasses pretty much all the areas I am passionate about: landuage, culture, politics and economics. I’m not quite sure what I will do with an IR degree, but the interdisciplinary nature of it will give me lots of options. Plus, I get to learn about real issues concerning all types of people. Pretty sweet.

2) I have a weird addiction to Special K Vanilla Almond cereal. No, I am not trying to loose weight. I just think there is no better breakfast… actually, that’s a lie. But, nevertheless, I love Special K.

3) Apparently, I have mastered the art of sarcasm to the point where people cannot recognize that I am kidding. Once, my friends tripped me and afterwards. I kept slinging ridiculous insults at her. She thought I was being serious but I was totally joking! She slapped me. I told her it was a joke. We laughed. We cried. The end.

4) I love acting! Though I won’t be majoring in Theatre, I hope to still be involved in productions when I’m in college. I’ve been doing community and school theatre my entire life, and I can’t imagine how I would survive without it.

5) My job involves demonstrating how to use remote control cars and getting all the Dora the Explorer paraphenalia out of the toy gun aisle. Welcome to KB toys.

6) Along with every other person in the world, I have an obsession with the Beatles. They covr 3/4 of the poster space on my wall and 1/4 of my heart. I watched and 18 hour documentary on them in one sitting. It’s pretty sad, really.

7) If you ever tell me your birthday, I will remember it. My kindergarten teacher’s birthday is March 29th. I haven’t seen her in 10 years, yet I still know that.

8) If my english teacher was my age, I would swear he was my soul mate. Unfortunately, he’s 35. And my teacher. Thus, I will search elsewhere.

9) I’m saving up all my money – yes, every single dollar – to afford a trip to Spain this summer. Because when economic times are tough and college tuition is high, the answer is clear: go to Spain!

<333 Let’s go to Brown together.

My birthday is May 29.

nice birthday! my mom shares it with you

1) I’m planning on double majoring in comsci and something else. I tell everyone I don’t know what that something else is, but im secretly hoping it’s theatre.

2) My mom tried to get me to be born on the 10th of October. I missed it by 6 minutes.

3) When I meet someone new, I try to be over the top friendly to get them to open up (and to hide my shyness. i know, i’m weird like that.). They usually stare at me funnily but I do it anyway.

4) I have a terrible memory. I forget people’s name within 5 minutes of them telling me if I don’t repeat it over and over again. But I remember faces perfectly.

5) I watch **** loads of tv shows, but I barely watch tv.

6) Apparently my great great grandfather was a court magistrate in China.

7) I look nothing like my brother (and people say that all the time), but when we’re on stage singing (not together thankfully) we look exactly a like. It’s the lighting I tell you.

8) When I want to voice my opinion, even around people I’m familiar with, my heart beats so hard I can feel the vein on my neck pulsate. And my head gets really hot.

9) I HATE spending money (because I’m SO Chinese heh), but when I do, I SPLURGE.

I’m five feet tall and everyone makes fun of me for it.

I have a photographic memory

I am living proof that redheads do exist in the Middle East (I also have an Irish-American boyfriend who is a redhead!)

I love being a daredevil. I went bungee jumping in New Zealand when I was 12, I’m planning on going skydiving for my 18th birthday which is in a few weeks, and I’m looking to buy a motorcycle.

I want to travel to every country in the world…before I’m 30.

I am in love with National Geographic and my dream is to be a photojournalist for them

I am in love with Nine Inch Nails.

I’m not a big fan of chocolate

I’m a Libertarian.

LOVE THIS THREAD!!! Hilarious…will have to come back and post. Too tired.

1) I can lick my elbow.
2) I believe that life on earth started with chocolate. (yum!)
3) I hate coffee. Kinda like the smell when it’s not strong but when it’s strong…euugh
4) I used to have Seamonkeys that I looked after for a very VERY long time. I actually brought them to our summer house and I carried the tank the whole way through.
5) I had always wanted to be a science major ever since I was a kid but this summer I had an epiphany and decided not to.
6) I am a great believer in astrology. Not horoscopes, but personalized stuff like birth charts. (I blame my mom for that actually =D We are both astrology geeks =P)
7) I have since long time severed my connection to a TV.
8) I want to do skydiving some day…sometime around my 20s preferably.
9) I want to go to the North Pole to watch the Aurora Borealis(North Pole just because it’s closer, if I can go to Antarctica, that’ll be fine too. Or just anywhere I can see the Aurora, I don’t have to be on the North Pole itself)

Dudboi- Is your BDay on Oct 9 or 11th??

Oh my! Lots of chocolate lovers/ haters.

I’d totally go skydiving too. I wrote my “academic experience” essay in part about being an adrenaline junkie.

Haha oops, I guess I should’ve said I was LATE by 6 minutes!

Anything that has me plummeting straight for the earth scares the living daylights outta me, but I’ll still do it at least once I think.

“1) I love, love looveee history. European in particular. but i’m not going to be a history major (I’d like to actually have a job after i graduate)”

Nary has worse reasoning existed…"

well, there’s far more to it than that. For some reason I see it more as a hobby for myself than my career/college path. After four years of competing in National History Day and APUSH last year, I came to the conclusion that it’s not what I want to do. Plus, publishing is what I want to do and my love of history is only surpased by that of great writing.

“9) I want to go to the North Pole to watch the Aurora Borealis(North Pole just because it’s closer, if I can go to Antarctica, that’ll be fine too. Or just anywhere I can see the Aurora, I don’t have to be on the North Pole itself)”

A few summers ago the Aurora Borealis was visible here in Maine. It wasn’t the spectacular streaks of vibrant colors that usually come to mind, the night sky was a dark red instead, but still, it was the aurora borealis.

I’m five foot one and my boyfriend is 6 foot 5. …its an interesting combination.

If I get deferred/rejected ED then I will but a picture of the mascot of each school I’m applying to RD and if I get rejected to a school I can put a giant red x through its mascot and it will be satisfying.

I love baking desserts but I never will bake any non-dessert food haha

I used to be somewhat frighteningly obsessed to television shows, but I have gotten better. Though Veronica Mars and Friday Night Lights are still the best shows on earth.

I’m obsessed with British accents

The only country out of North America I’ve been to is China, and I’m now taking Chinese…and I’m white.

I laugh hysterically at anything. Even nothing, there are times when I’ll just be thinking about my odd laughing habits and burst into laughter for no reason. Its a good time.

The best word is “trufax” and everyone should use it.

I was born on Easter but my birthday has only been on that day once since then.
