Hmm, shouldn’t we specify whether we’re actual Brown students or prospective students? 'Cause this thread started out as one for students to introduce themselves, I believe.

So, yeah, I’m class of '13 and I’m applying to Brown this year!

I have prosopagnosia, which is inability to recognize faces. (Opposite of Dudboi…) I have it pretty mildly, but it’s still embarrassing; I’m always afraid when I meet someone for the first time that I’ll have no idea who they are the next time I see them. D: Also, if you show me a picture of a celebrity, I’ll have noooo idea who they are.

Relevantly, I’m interested in cognitive neuroscience! I’m interning this year with a professor at JHU and doing a year-long research project on prosopagnosia. (:

I’ve never been out of the country – in fact, the only time I’ve ever been off of the east coast (I live in Maryland) was for a computer programming contest in Ohio. I’m ridiculously sheltered, I know.

I stalked my current boyfriend for three years, on and off, before we started dating him. I took pictures of his house, memorized his phone number and address and parents’ names, and even found out and memorized his social security number. We’ve been dating for over eight months now.

To celebrate Pi Day in my freshman year, I memorized the first 50 digits. I’ve memorized more on different occasions, but only the first 50 are stored in my long-term memory.

I have mild Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – I step over all sidewalk cracks. :3

I’ve given blood twice and almost passed out both times. It’s really frustrating, 'cause I know it’s a psychological thing (the first time, it happened before the needle was even in my arm), but I can’t get over it.

I very very rarely watch TV. However, my TiVo is set to record The Big Bang Theory and the Office, which I watch when I feel like it.

I listen to a variety of different musical genres, but my top two are progressive metal and death metal. :]

fdskjfdksljf guys let’s all get into Brown and go together!!! :]]]

Poseur, not going to lie, but number 4 is a bit scary. I mean, we’re all guilty of a little bit of that kind of thing, but wow, that’s a new extreme.

Posuer, we can be best friends and you can teach me how to stalk people. =p

I don’t mean to break the flow of the thread, but I have this weird thing (which for some reason I completely forgot to put down) where I fold the ends of my sleeves and rub them along my fingers. I do that also for pillowcases. I also bite excessively on my blankets and pillow cases that it looks like rats got to them. Does that make me OC? (I so need therapy)

Haha and you can teach me to recognize people!!

WAIT. My boyfriend does something like that with the ends of his sleeves and pillowcases and stuff. Omg. You two should talk. His is like… he folds the end between his thumb and middle finger and rubs it with his index finger. Is that similar??

I dunno if it makes you OCD… and as for the chewing, maybe you’re just fixated in the oral stage? (Jokes. Lol Psych.) ;] As long as it doesn’t get in the way of everyday life, it’s all good.

Poseur: I have a weird condition of my own too! I’m hypersensitive to light and sound so I can hear really high pitches no one else can hear, which used to lead to me saying “Does anyone hear that?” a lot and people looking at me all funny. My smell isn’t as affected but I did notice at one point certain people smell really bad ;o. It’s much less pronounced now. So I found out that some of the schools I’m applying to have a communication sciences and disorders major and that’s what I put down as my prospective major. hehe.

I always drive with my windows down.

I wear college shirts for schools I’m not applying to almost exclusively.

Thunder is my favorite. Lightning is my biggest fear. (Psychoanalyze this as you will.)

My great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother is Anne Hutchinson. She knew the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather of one of my best friends, Rhode Island founder Roger Williams.

I own more lipstick than any 17-year-old may respectably own.

My boyfriend owns a shirt with the number pi on it; when he wears this, I wear my “I <3 Nerds” shirt.

My first rated-R movie was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Although I go to a girls’ school, I wear makeup every day. I am the only one at school to do so.

When I grow up, I wanna get physically dirty when I work. Dirt under my nails dirty.

I’m so jealous that you’re related to the grandmother of American feminism! and it seems fate had it in its hand for you and your best friend to know each other.
