Awesome, I LOVE musicals too. Tonight, i vegged on the couch and watched Astaire's Bandwagon and Easter Parade (not that I already haven't seen them a million times and have them taped and stashed upstairs in my room.....). Lol, Gene Kelly's Brigadoon is up next on the Tcm lineup and well.... he's gorgeous. hahaha. I'd swing dance with him.......

bananafosters: I've sung that song at band camp! I love it! I am also a huge fan of musicals and showtunes, and theatre in general. Btw, my musical is this weekend, so y'all should come! Haha, not really, because I'd be kind of sketched and think you were all stalkers since you're from like florida and california.

And what is the similar song from My Fair Lady? I don't remember it.

Laurenemma: what attracts you about Yale and Harvard over Brown? I'm not trying to flame you or anything. I'm honestly curious.

The coaches were more responsive and seem to want me to attend more. I just have gotten a better feel for Yale and Harvard. I do really like Brown though because of the open curriculum and an amazing Neuroscience program.

I don't know what I will end up deciding, but I can't miss many days of school or practices.

Similar song in My Fair Lady? Similar to what?
Here are the songs:
Why Can't the English Teach their Children How to Speak? (I LOVE that one! - "Why in America, they haven't used it for years! Yes!)
Loverly
Let a Woman in Your Life
Poor Professor Higgins
Quit Professor Higgins
The Rain in Spain
I Could Have Danced All Night
The song at the races - I have to admit, I don't know the name of this one
On the Street Where You Live (sigh)
Show Me
Why Can't a Woman be More Like a Man?
Without You
I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face

Oh, those are such great songs!

Yeah... I'm just slightly musicals obsessed. I used to sing all my words in first grade. I've gotten over it - but just barely. As Gene Kelly says, "life is a song." My favs? I love them all, but I'd have to go with Les Miserables. I've seen it nine times. It's odd, though, because mostly I lean towards the old ones - Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter... Oh, I just love them all!

Oops! I just realized I didn't say whether I was attending ADOCH or not. IF I get in, there's a high probability that I'll attend - but I have to work the scheduling out, so I'm not positive. But, cools, if you're attending it would be hard to pass up - we can sing musicals the whole time :P

OH yea!! We can have Porter, Gershwin, Berlin, R & H reviews! And if I get in, I'm almost positive I'll be attending ADOCH. That would be S'wonderful!

the song at the races = Ascot Gavotte.

I <3 On the Street Where You Live. If I ever meet a really great guy, I'll know he's ideal when he sings that song to me. sigh

Ooh I'm joining your singing group! Can we add Frank Loesser and Marvin Hamlisch to our repetoire? Please?! It would be delovely!!

Oh, yes! Of course!

"The night is young, the skies are clear, and if you want to go walking dear, it's delightful, it's delicious it's..."

Wow, where else did you guys apply to college? Brown is shooting up the list, thanks to this thread. You guys are amazing! Here's to hoping and praying (that Hester will get just one more A... nevermind - song popping into my head) that we get in to Brown on Friday! Or Thursday! "Who knows where or when"?

Okay, I'm totally losing it. Song lyrics are bombarding my brain. But I'm just so excited!

Adam, what kind of music are you particularly interested in singing? If All Eastern is anything like All Northwest, that's a pretty eclectic range... Classical? Rock? Jazz?

I, too, love singing of any sort, and would join any a cappella group that would have me, but I'm particularly interested in Jazz. Madrigals would be fun, too!
