Getting to Yale from Hartford

Our DD is flying into Bradford on Monday morning for BBD. The reviews for CT Limo are very poor, to put it mildly. Are there any recommendations out there??

There is a Yale transportation site (can’t recall the URL but you can find it by searching for “Yale airport transportation” or words to that effect), but I believe CT Limo is the main shuttle option from Hartford. I have taken CT Limo a few times and so has my daughter and so far there haven’t been any problems with it.

For the NY airports there are a few more options including Go Shuttle and the Metro North train to Grand Central and connect from there to the airports.

It might not be the frugal option, but I’m a big fan of Uber.

Bradley is an hour away from New Haven. CT Limo is slow and annoying because it could have multiple stops along the way but it is the most affordable option aside from knowing someone that can pick you up. I have heard that hiring a towncar service can be a little more expensive but is faster and reliable.

Check with admissions to make sure they don’t provide any transportation. I would think there would be a lot of other students traveling to campus at the same time. Perhaps they could all share a ride with Uber or CT Limo.

My D ran into many others on her Amtrak ride to BDD.

It turns out that Yale, pays for air and ground transportation, for those receiving financial aid. They’re sending us a check for the plane tickets, that we’ve already purchased. They’ve arranged for a shuttle to take DD to and from the airport.

In the future I would not make shuttle arrangements and try to identify some Yale students on arrival to share an Uber.

It turns out, that she missed her flight, and was re booked to fly into Tweed. She ran into 8 or 9 Yalies, and got a ride to campus.
