Are there a lot of ghetto kids at UCLA? I came from the ghetto and I hope that my kind are there. (I seriously want to know this. I don't know how to describe it other than that.) I currently go to a mid level UC and there are a lot of suburbanites here.

Personally, I have seen very few.

come on its ucla...if you want ghetto kids stick to ghetto schools.

if you're talking about being "ghetto" financially then forget what i said

Fortunately, very few ghetto kids go to UCLA. when I refer to the word "ghetto", i am referring to people that have no manners and use grammatically incorrect sentences, such as "yous a fool".

I'm ghetto financially if that counts <3.

LOL! i like those ghetto people that talk like "What chu be talkin' about foo?" !!

I hope not, I spent the last 4 years watching wealthy suburban teens act as if they were from the hood, gets old after a while.

what's the mid level uc that you go to? haha.

o wow when i read this at first i thought it was a joke

its rather pathetic that its not..

no offense but

there is a gripload of ghetto people here and they're practically all from norcal and/or filipino.

*** why are people being so narrowminded about "ghetto" culture. i'm not apart of it but i dont look down on them. it's their culture and as long as their not shooting or stomping then at least respect them.

im a ***** so ill say it anyways

i dont consider it culture

then what is it, an act?

ghetto gets a bad rep. it's a style of clothing, a genre of music, and less so a type of attitude, as, surprisingly, not all ghetto people carry one personality.

Ghettoness is definately a culture, it first started with the Southern Drawl (back when African Americans were slaves, a lot of them couldnt pronounce certain words, and thats how words like "chu" and stuff stuck around their dialect/speech) but i dont want to get into racial issues here. The OP had an innocent post.

But for those who would like to know more information about this unique part of American history, go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Drawl

Please do not make this racial!!

Yeah, sorry about that. "Ghetto" can be defined in many ways. People who didn't come from the suburbs. Who aren't "well-off", came from places that weren't too safe. Influenced by African-American culture, but can be any race, and aren't fake. If they don't like you, they won't fake liking you. They aren't giddy and happy-go-lucky because that's not how life was. At the same time though, they aren't emo.

I think blackhair and I definitely have the same definition. I DO use sentences like "You's a damn fool", but I'm not rude. And I do agree with mojojo, the southern drawl is usually used.
