GI Bill/In-state tuition and Yellow Ribbon

My daughter’s #1 is UofSC. Her dad is AD-USAF and she will be using his Post 9/11 GI Bill. She received a scholarship offer, but it was much lower than what was on the website (and sent in a letter from UofSC after her application) for her ACT/GPA. It puts her very short of in-state. We are currently in VA so she could use the Academic Common Market (only for a year then we PCS). I’m assuming we lose the in-state when we move the next year. Does anyone get in-state with just the GI Bill? Has anyone successfully secured Yellow Ribbon? UGH! I know we will have out of pocket expenses so I am trying to minimize tuition costs. Thanks for any info.

I probably won’t be able to answer your question fully but I would strongly recommend calling the VA office at USC:

803-777-5156

I’m in-state and I used my father’s GI Bill to fund a few years of my college and, to my knowledge, the scholarship and the GI Bill stacked. Therefore, if your daughter is using the GI Bill and receiving a tuition reduction, the two would combine to significantly reduce tuition.

I’m not sure if it is the same case for out of state so I would definitely call that number!

I use the GI bill comparison tool. It looks like if you have the yellow ribbon USC tuition and fees are covered. You can look up any school using the online tool.
