I always want to send my friends things in college, you know like a little gift basket of things that are fun, or things thay might need. I'm still a senior in high school so I dont really know what they need.

So... if you just got a gift basket from a good friend back home what would you want it to contain?

Baked goods are always a big winner. Socks were a good suggestion (Target usually has fun ones for pretty cheap), as was the Starbucks card. iTunes card could also work ($5 sort of thing). Maybe make the card a postcard from your hometown. The person's favorite candy. Maybe something goofy like a coloring book and crayons. On occasion, you can find decent DVDs in the $0.99 bin at Wal-Mart.

Head to the $0.99 Store and see what you find. For example, they usually have a rack of award ribbons that are pretty entertaining. Freshman year, a big group of us wound up exchanging these for fun (I believe that I was "Queen of Clean" and "Bedtime Champ"...both very appropriate).

If there's anything that you can easily send that'll really remind the person of your hometown, that'd be a good. Either something they love but can't get when they're away or something that just makes them think of home and laugh.

Mix CDs are silly, sure, but they're also excellent additions to care packages.

A personal favorite of mine is photo frames (I get them at the $0.99 store--sensing a trend?--and collage the entire thing with magazine cut-outs and 'laminate' it with packaging tape. If you're actually interested, I can give you better directions through a PM), but they can take some time.

Pretty tissues (the decorated kind you get in small packs), frames are definately a good idea, cookies, and baked goods (candy is readily available anywhere. Anything nostalgic.

yes, photo frames, mugs perhaps and some coffee (if she has a coffee maker.. otherwise get some instant coffee perhaps?) scarves or gloves if its cold over there. lots of munchies and perhaps a teddybear or a stuffed animal of some sorts :)

The best message I can give to the thread of Clubs in college
is by all means join what ever club is relevant to you. I also
feel you at some point should contibute some time to student
government.
My experience, supplying support to college clubs as well as
student government, has shown me, that for the student it was
a real plus.
They get experience, you can't get anywhere else. You gain
acquaintances, you learn how to network. You learn how the
world works. You learn how to get things done
see you around campus
