Gift ideas from current students (and parents)

In the past I've given my son GC from ABP, Burdick's and Final

Each house makes their own sweatshirt/hoodie/etc.

I’m not sure I understand, but do the students give their GC (guidance counselor) gifts? This is my son’s first year in a house. Thanks!

Ah, thanks, huinsider. I thought I’d seen some once at the Coop. I’ll see what I can figure out. ~1mm
(Guitars, I was referring to gift cards/certificates for my S.)

My bad

I read it incorrectly… whew! Thanks for clarifying

Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean it to sound like my post negated the existence of said hoodies. The Coop does infact make house hoodies, and they are generic with Harvard in the middle of it all.

Berryline gc is the way to go!

All the things my son hated to get in childhood he now adores - socks, underwear, more socks. The more the better. I think he may be trying to go a whole semester without doing laundry.

My daughter has requested Dunkin Donuts and/or starbucks (but it does not last as long) and well as the coop gift cards.

BTW what is ABP? I’m also always looking for ideas.

Restaurants she visits are Pinocchio’s, Bartley’s, and Felipe’s with probably Pinocchio’s as #1.

Son, who went to Tufts, always wanted Fire and Ice gift cards.

ABP is Au Bon Pain

Thanks - I actually did not know there was one in Harvard Square - not that I am surprised

Felipe’s would have been S’s first choice, but I can’t buy a GC online. :(

The Harvard Square Au Bon Pain is right across the street from Harvard Yard, next to the T stop. That’s the restaurant in which the Harvard Square scene with Minnie Driver and Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting was filmed.

Some of my favorite “slightly off the beaten path” places include:
Hi-Rise (sandwich shop on Brattle)
Darwin’s Ltd. (sandwich + more shop on Kirkland/Mt. Auburn)
Cambridge 1 (upscale pizza on Church)

Actually, I remember the ABP now.

That is also where there is that sign for the Harvard tour (private company) sign is set up. The tours are so often in front of my daughter’s dorm that she and her roommate have learned their presentation by heart and enjoy listening for their mistakes. I think that they even called out a correction once. :)

D has asked for very few specific things for x-mas this year. But the one thing she appealed to me for is one of those North Face Denali Fleece Jackets. She claims that are really warm and comfortable. My thought is that they an overpriced fleece jacket that is devoid of style or shape. But I did order one from REIi two days ago so she should be happy.

justforgetme - thanks for the new eatery names & locations.

thanks, justforgetme. that was just he sort of ideas i’m looking for.
