Gifted or Honors

Where I go to school, they have 4 tracks.

Technical, College Prep, Honors, and Gifted (this isn't including AP).

In order to get into Gifted you have to take a test, and they usually stop testing students after 9th grade. The only difference between Honors and Gifted, is the fact that the Gifted track moves slightly faster. We take the same tests (usually), use the same books, and some of our classes are mixed.

I've been recommended for the Gifted track (I'm an all honors student w/ 2 APs.) I really don't want to take the gifted test b/c that will mess up my entire schedule(if I get in). Will not taking gifted courses affect my chances at getting into a good school?

Sorry this was so long.

I think you should take the test. I would bet that the kids on the gifted track are the ones that get the most information about top colleges, and that also counselors look to first when asked to recommend students for opportunities adn honors.

Dealing with the upheaval of changing your schedule now might put you on track for better things than you'd get if you continue with the status quo.
