[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[]Extracurriculars(place leadership in parenthesis): Basketball, Track, Interact (President), Yearbook (editor for three years), Student Council (Vice-president), Forensics, Quiz Bowl, Culture Club (secretary), Student Life Commitee
[]Volunteer/Communityservice: approx 100 at clinic, 50 hours at library (community service is required at my school, but I didn’t mention that)
[]Essays: 5.6 out of ten
[]TeacherRecommendation: I only saw one, and that one was good. But I imagine the one I didn’t see was a lot better, because that lady loves me(:
[]CounselorRec: didn’t see them, most likely okay, maybe a little above average.
[]AdditionalRec: didn’t have
[]Interview: There was an interview portion of my audition, which was really good, because I was able to explain how my ghetto school of 80 people did not have a theatre program (okay, it has one, but they spend a semester putting together a reader’s theater. Its mainly freshmen in the class)
[/ul]Other[ul] I went to a two-week theatre workshop at Texas State University, speak Spanish, a little French and Yoruba, travel to Nigeria frequently, and have 5 sisters and a brother (im the second oldest). I also go to school about ten miles from Fort Hood, and he asked me a question or two about the shootings. I don’t think that really had to much to do with anything though, so I should take that off. Also, I arranged for my school to sponser a little girl in Angola
[]AppliedforFinancialAid?: YES. Have not gotten any info back though, my FAFSA was a bit late.
[]IntendedMajor: DRAMA
[]State(ifdomesticapplicant): Texas

[]Hooks(URM,firstgenerationcollege, research, etc.): Workshop at TSU, showed that even though I wasn’t in theatre class, I’m still dedicated to acting.
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[]Strengths: Extra-curriculars, Classes, Leadership Roles, maybe recommendation, definitely the common app questions, I used Spiderman as my New Yorker, talked about a trip to the market in Nigeria, and wrote an Anti-limerick when I couldn’t think of a good limerick. Maybe my scores a little? Definitely the reading and writing sections.
[]Weaknesses: MATH. Math, math, and oh… did I mention math? That and my extremely small resume.
[]Whyyouthinkyouwereaccepted/waitlisted/rejected: My application, and maybe my audition had something to do with it. I still don’t know. I did Val’s monologue (from ‘A Chorus Line’) and a monologue from Oscar Wilde’s ‘An Ideal Husband’. I had a lot of fun with them, but if I could change one thing, I would have started practicing earlier. I got my chorus line piece in October, but I changed to the Ideal Husband piece at the last minute, about two weeks before the NYU audition.
[/ul]GeneralComments: AAHHHH!! CAN’T BELIEVE IM IN!!!(:

i’m surpised i got accepted to NYU CAS (i got an acceptance email, it’s offical) among these crazy applicants…
i took only one AP course in junior year and am taking three courses this senior year, and got “3” on that AP exam last year… pretty terrible. But my school offers only 2 AP courses so i guess NYU understood my situation.

My SAT scores were 2020, (M 720, CR 650, W 650) and my GPA was about 3.75/4.0.
I think the reason i got accepted was my essay, i explained hardships i went through since english was not my first launguage. Though that essay topic could have been cliche, but i am sure that my essay was really unique and stood out. i didnt just list my hardships, for sure.
