Gilings School of Public Health

How difficult is it to get admitted into the undergraduate programs?

I think it depends on what program you’re going for… I know several people who did nutrition and it seemed tough simply because of the grade requirements (which I think would deter a lot of people). I have a friend who is doing health policy & management and she ended up having a really good interview that sealed the deal.

I see. From what I’ve been reading the Nutrition major requires a 3.0 and at least a B- in all of the science prerequisites, which is definitely doable. I’m asking because my girlfriend is a Biology major, but we’ve talked about the opportunities that Gillings offers and her interest in the Nutrition major, and it seems like a better way to go. I’m just curious if the minimum requirements are any guarantee of admission or if it is more like the business school application process.

Also, does anyone have any experience with the Nutrition program?

I know there is definitely an admissions process which involves an application, writing essays, etc, not just meeting the requirements. And the B- thing is harder than you might think, but I’m sure she knows that if she is a Bio major! ; )
