Does anyone have a copy of the floor plan document for Gillette? I remember seeing a document with all the room dimensions for all the different room numbers in the Commons online and now I can't seem to find it.

There are dimensions in the Housing Guide, posted on the 2018 site. I assume it will also be sent along with the Housing letter.

Did you get your dorm assignment already?

Yes, My son got his room assignment. He is in Gillette. My son did get the document with square footage details for each room number from another student(it is from 2007/2008). However, it is open on his ipad with no way that we can see to save. We know that he will have to keep his stuff minimal, but he is not at all concerned and is looking forward to move in day. It is such an exciting period in his life and now that we know the dorm, we can start the task of packing and preparing.

I’m also in Gillette, and does anyone know how I’d have two roommates listed on my housing assignment? I thought that the Ingram Commons houses were double and single rooms only.

I know the corner rooms in Hank were triples.

Only triples? I have a corner room (according to floor plan), but I’m in a Hank double.

Can someone post a link to the 2007-2008 Housing document referenced in several posts? Have Googled it but haven’t been able to locate it online. THANKS!!!

Here is the link: <a href=“Dropbox - Error - Simplify your life”>Dropbox - Error - Simplify your life. Hopefully that works.

THANK YOU!!!

This is wonderfully helpful @jrmama496! Thanks!

How do you find out the dorm assignment ?

Thank you so much for that link!!! That is AWESOME!!

Dorm assignments were mailed - big brown envelope I believe. We’re in Indiana and haven’t received it yet - but DD’s roommate did and she’s two states away from us - and farther from Nashville.

If it’s online, I haven’t been able to figure out where the heck it is.

The name of your house used to appear in your billing statement. Looks like Vandy caught on, now the bill seems to say generic “HOUSING” instead of the name of your dorm room.

Our son’s room is Gillette 408 a. What is the significant of the “a”? Is that a specific bed?

One roommate is A, one is B. Completely meaningless except for paperwork.

Found this online: <a href=“Gillette House 2010-11 Slideshow - YouTube”>Gillette House 2010-11 Slideshow - YouTube;

You can get a couple of glimpses of Gillette rooms. And YOWZA. They’re small. It looks like lofting isn’t an option - it’s the rule!

Is there enough room to unloft the beds at Gillette? In this picture:

http://www.haa.us/projectpics/pro62_VU-G-3.jpg

it looks pretty tight. If the desks can be split into two pieces (desk and drawers) it might work, but it looks like the desks may be one piece.

I’ve seen that pic! Honestly, I don’t think there is. I think their MIGHT be enough room to loft one and put the other one below in a “L” - but even then I don’t think so.

My daughter’s roommate is actually moving in this Monday because of band - as soon as she gets some boots on the ground, I’ll report back here! (Unless someone else has a concrete answer.)

Ha ha ha that looks like a page from a Pottery Barn catalog! As if any dorm room actually looks like that! Yes that is the actual furniture and the drawers are a separate piece. My son lofted his bed even higher to skyscraper height and put a TV on the desk. (I could be wrong but I didn’t think the little round end table was part of the standard kit.)

That room looks very much like my son’s room in Hank. It’s hard to tell the length of the room in the picture but in my son’s room there was room to put the desks next to the beds. One roommate pushed the bed down to the window with the desk on the door side of the room and the other put the desk down by the window with the bed closer to the door. This gave them a little sense of personal space. The rooms really are not small by dorm standards and they are bright and airy feeling with the high ceilings and big windows. The round table is not part of the standard kit and I would avoid bringing any extra furniture like chairs and such until you get in the room and see the space after it’s set up.
