I’m a shy girl from an all-girls’ Catholic high school. Though I can warm up to almost anyone pretty quickly, I’ve only really dealt with girls-my dealings with boys have been extremely limited over the past four years. That said, I’m looking to meet new people and expand my horizons, which means dealing with both guys and girls. How easy is it to meet guys at Colgate?
**This isn’t meant to sound like I’m dependent on looking for a relationship or anything like that. I missed out on a co-ed experience all throughout high school, and want to make the most of it at Colgate.
I strongly urge you to visit and decide these matters for yourself.
Good luck with your college search!
According to US News the male/female ratio is 45/55. Not perfectly split but closer to 50/50 than other liberal arts schools.
Most LACs, including Colgate, enroll slightly more women than men (note that most LACs, including Colgate, don’t offer engineering, which is a subject of particular interest to men). Here are some male/female ratios from the College Navigator database, for some other schools that Colgate applicants might consider:
45/55 Colgate
48/52 Cornell
48/52 Bucknell
49/51 Williams
49/51 Hamilton
51/49 Holy Cross
51/49 Lafayette
56/44 Lehigh
So Colgate’s enrollment is actually slightly more female than the others. However, I don’t think there will be any problem whatsoever meeting men at any of these schools.
