D took a sparknotes SATII USH practice test scored 490. Takes the real thing on Sat. Should she expect a similar score in your experience?

Don’t underestimate the power of application essays. They can make or break you. That’s why some 4.0 students get rejected, and some 3.8 students get accepted-- an essay shows the admissions office the difference between good grades, and actually learning something.

In my case, it was my essay and ECs that got me accepted (Debate 4yrs Ranked top in state/Band 3 years section leader). I only had a 3.26 and a 2100 SAT.

I know many people who flaked on their essays because they thought they had it on lock-- that may not be the case with you, but just a piece of advice to everybody looking to apply to UCD.

fooshy

Miracles DO happen. GF won her appeal to Davis for Aeronautical Eng. We are still in shock, because we heard only 50 appeals were accepted last yr out of 1,000 – can anyone confirm those stats?

Wow 08mom congrats!

I am aforementioned GF, and am ELATED that I won my appeal!!!
UCD here i come!

I am very happy for you! Congratulations and welcome to UCD.

gratz, my appeal went through too, guess i will see you at davis. Tell the BF to watch out.

congratulations. welcome to the aggie family!

Congratz.

Surprisingly I got accepted to UCD under Econ from UCSC. Transferring from UC to UC is supposedly on the bottom of the hierarchy for transfers. My GPA was only a 3.1 and I had a D in precal, funny huh? Goes to show that it can either be random, or they loved my essay (which was pretty damn good).

if you don’t like it appeal, that’s how i got into davis

when i appealed 7000 people did along with me, and 70 got in so know that the chances are slim

{edit}
congrats on her getting in, my stats were 3.9 weighted, 2100 SAT, 770 Chem, 680 US hist, 4 on AP Psych, Gov and Chem, 3 on US History, English Comp and something else that doesn’t matter anymore
