thanks calmom!! that makes me feel alot better!! now im worried about my essays!! i think my essays are pretty good but when i read some of my friends’ they made mine look like crap lol (maybe it was bc he’s gonna be an english major :P) but nonetheless im paranoid!!

i hope i get in!!!
good luck to everyone else!!!

I am ssooo joining that pity party!! Do they send the answers back on March or early April?? God yes, I understand what you guys mean with the whole “your friends hearb back” thing. A friend of mine just got into UMass and she was like it’s the best feeling in the world. Aaaa I hope we all get iin!!!

Im not gonna send till the 25th to the 29th or so, just so Im sure about my essays plus im waiting for my Dec. SAT II scores…brrr wish me luuck :D

I want to send in all my supps before the break! Lately I have been stalking Barnard’s website lol! Such an amazing college!

Let’s talk about something else other than college apps!: What are you girls planning to do on the break? (although college apps will probably be a part of it lol!)

ohh& artemisakadiana I think we find out at the end of march! (so close& yet so far!) lol! after apps we need to stick together! I dont want the thread to die again lol!

good luck mdh!! i hope we all get in and see each other there!!

im done with college apps but im afraid to submit them!! i keep on re-reading them making sure they’re perfect!! -especially barnard’s
but on a happier note i’m going to see Black Swan tomorrow!! yay! i heard it was good :)

nice to meet you! how are everyone’s apps coming along, or have you already sent them in? I’ve been thinking hard about them but I’m so hesitant to actually do them! I want to go to Barnard so bad so its scary…hope everyone’s holidays are going well! :)

I’ve been working on apps everyday but don’t seem to be getting far. I think I’m trying too hard/being a perfectionist. Ughhhhhkafjlkasjf.

Haha I know, I set a photo of Barnard’s gates as my desktop but decided to change it because it physically hurt. It also distracts me when I’m doing other schools’ apps.

When I went to the Barnard Bound program I recieved a poster of Barnard (of the entrance of the college, its BEAUTIFUL!) I had it up for a while but then noticed I could not concentrate because I would just stare at it! LOL! But it will be up right away if I get in! (Wouldn’t do it before because if I dont get it Ill be too devastated after gazing at it for so long! :/) It will aslo def go up at my dorm :D!! Gahhh! I can’t talk too much about this! I get too hyped >.<

haha I’m so excited guys! I’m working on my supplements right now and just talking about Barnard makes me so happy! good luck everybody! I don’t know how we’ll get through the next 4 months waiting, but at least we’re in it together!

@lorrainedelis Haha dont even mention those 4 months, they’re killing me and we havent even started!! @kenzie1992 Welcome!! Haha glad we have another member of the Barnard pity party :D. I totally get what you mean about more room… I actually have to upload 3 of my 4 supps because they’re too long but shortening them will make em weaker. Do you think they’ll mind? Its not like they’re 300 words each, just a little overboard of the 1000 characters. Gosh I hate commonapp limits

I havent sent anything yet, Im done with the supps but Im still revising my actual essay haha. I want it so bad too!!! My friends keep making fun of me because whenever they mention schools and whatnot, I just keep blabbing on about Barnard “Oh my god, do you guys know there’s this thingie called midnight breakfast, its awesome”…“umm, Zineb… ENOUGH!!!” Haha.

Mine are all close to 300 words…I don’t want to cut out a third of my material!! It’s so frustrating!

My uncle just moved from Seattle to New York City and (as an MIT alum) he’s familiar with all the elite east coast schools (unlike your average PNW-er). He used to be dead set on me going to Wellesley but now he’s pushing Barnard. It would be nice to be somewhere near close family when I’m 3000 miles away from home :)

Hello! I am here to join the Barnard RD pity party :D. I’d love to go to Barnard, though I’m not sure that we’d be able to afford it even if I did get in. These next four months are going to go by so slowly.

I had to upload all of my supplement questions, too. While they were around 200ish words, all of them were over the character limit on the Common App.

kenzie - you live in Seattle? Me too! Hey! I’m an ED Barnard admit stalking the thread. I know what you mean about people not knowing/caring about elite east coast type schools. I mean, I know some ivy-types but I get kind of tired of "Barnard…it’s the sister school of Columbia"ing all the time now. Ah well.

Raspberi: Yeah most people here haven’t heard of ANY of the schools I’m applying to, except for Lewis & Clark and Whitman because they’re nearby. Ah well, I know Barnard and the others are amazing schools and that’s what counts :)

Hey guys, quick question. How long are you admissions essays? I think mine is waaay too long and Im starting to freak out over it :s. Do the admission officers (is that their name? haha its wierd) take some sort of a bad vibe if they see that your essay is too long? Arghhh, I really dont want to have to reduce it, I like it lol.

artemisakadiana, I’ve heard that you should keep your essay within two pages, double spaced; but mine was about 2.5 pages (aprox. 800 words) and I was accepted ED. I would, however, suggest keeping your essay within a 3 page length (as to not annoy the admissions people(?)). But either way, I wish you good luck!
