I know some girls can't live without their purse, whereas others do not bother carrying it to class. I definitely see less around college campus, compared to high school. When I got to college, I stopped carrying my big bags around because they just felt like extra luggage...the weight from my bookbag was enough! What is your preference?

Usually if I bring my messenger bag then I just throw the stuff which is usually in my purse in my messenger bag.

I bring a big school bag, but I put all of the stuff ( keys, phone, drink, snack, lipgloss, mints, etc.) that are usually in my bag/ purse in it… and bring it to class

i don’t carry a purse unless i go off campus. I don’t bother with it. I only take my rollybackpack when i go to class or have to study in the library.

I don’t use a bookbag. I carry everything in my purse–then again, I don’t need much for class: a folder, a notebook, and a pen.

However, I go to school in NYC and it’s highly unlikely
you’d see many (if any) girls lugging bookbags around.
So I’m assuming it varies by location or enviornment.

I still carry a purse. If I am using a bigger purse and don’t need my computer sometimes I just use it as a bookbag as well, but I often use a backpack and a purse. I have to carry a lot of medications and things that don’t travel well with all my books.

I used a really large Longchamp as my “backpack” last year so I transferred my phone/student id/(sometimes) money to that during the school week and used a Coach shoulder purse for going out.

Usually I only carry a purse to class during finals, and that’s all I carry. During the rest of the term, I carry a backpack, but I put all the necessities (wallet, keys, phone, etc) in the front pocket of the backpack.

I just use a vineyard vines tote to take to class to carry my books and I keep my ID, phone, etc. in my vera bradley wristlet. When I go out I just take the wristlet. Talk about the best drunk-proof invention ever :)

No purse for me. Just the standard wristlet you see a lot of girls have on college campuses (a vera bradley one, like this one <a href=“Pro Read Novels-Avoid beg Novel Free Book”>Pro Read Novels-Avoid beg Novel Free Book).

It’s gotten to the point where even when I’m home for the summer I don’t carry around a purse anymore. I just don’t see the need to.

I’ve never seen one of those. I would lose it in about five minutes. lol. It’s cute, though.

I hate carrying purses because I hate holding something in my hands-- that’s what she said.

I carry a tote. I live on campus, so I don’t take too much stuff with me. Just my books/notepad and other “necessities” :D

I use a tote bag (or big purse) that carries everything from my books to my pens to my wallet to anything else I need. No backpack, no separate purse.

Totes hurt my shoulder. The days I have class I usually have 4 or 5, so a tote won’t carry everything I need. Backpacks put less strain on my shoulders and back, and I tend to carry a bunch of stuff. Whatever you’re comfortable with.

^ How much do you need for each class?? And are they back to back? I never had to carry stuff for more than 2 classes at a time all of last year…and I never had more than a notebook, a folder, some pens, and maybe a book for any given class. My large purse was sufficient for carrying that!

I too use an oversized purse–which carries everything just fine; however all I use is a 1 or 2 notebooks and pens.

I think bookbags are absolutely hideous. From past CC-bookbag-related threads, I gather that I’m the only one who feels that way, haha.
Plus, and I’ll admit this really superficial, they clash with my outfit. So I opt for a larger purse.

To each her own.
Whatever works personally for you, OP, is what you should use. If you like bookbags or need the performance a bookbag offers–use one. If you like totes, use a tote. Whatever you’re in to is perfectly fine.

I think a good idea is using a wristlet as your purse if you use a separate bookbag.

SingDanceRunLife- obviously I’m not that poster, but I could never fit any of my textbooks into a purse.

The weight of them would surely destroy it.

Johnson181 - I never brought textbooks to class…except occasionally my sociology textbook which fit just fine in my oversized purse.

PlattsburghLoser - I hate backpacks as well. I haven’t really used one since 5th grade with the exception of the few times in high school that I was on crutches so I didn’t have a choice.

I think it really depends on how your college is run. I sat in at a Stats 13 lecture in Davis, and since it was run through powerpoint lecture, I saw mainly laptops and notebooks. No backpacks really necessary.
