Or a really good dinner... drools

pfft! silly boys! goes back to catalogue

food is good, video games are better =) - see buying stuff for guys is so easy

We're so easy to please it's funny. That's why birthdays and Christmases around my house have never been stressful for anyone...except for when buying for mom, who's the only woman of the house.

ah this got me looking at the tiffany's engagement rings. the original engagement rings were from tiffany's. ah! tiffany's is love!

Alumother's mission

Lucky kids, i wish i got a present :(
Nobody knows the troubles I've seen, nobody knows...

I would like an alienware laptop please. the expensive one . or a new bass guitar. sigh...........

Let's all be practical and get...A LAPTOP. mmhmm. Yup. The gift can be from several people, too. Lol.

Dizzymom,

I would go with pearl earrings or a monogrammed pinky ring - two classic things a girl can wear forever as they won't go out of style, like the latest heart/initial pendant/whatever trend.

Filmxoxo17, I definitely agree with you about Cartier's Cartiers = my true love!! However, one can still find pretty things at Tiffany's. I'd suggest a Tiffany's Venetian link bracelet or necklace - very classy and understated, and relatively inexpensive.

Hope this helps, D-M! Keep us updated on what you purchase!

-Kat

I second the Venetian links - the necklace especially.

dizzymom! what'd you get what'd you get then :p?

You guys are very cute. I wish I could get something for everyone here!

The Cartier website doesn't have prices, but I don't think they have anything there at the less-than-$500 price point. I don't live near a store, so if I can't see it or buy it online, I can't get it in time for graduation.

The mother of one of the girls (S's gf!) wants to get her the Venetian link bracelet and she said she doesn't want it, so so much for that idea. These are casual girls who like Juicy and Ella Moss -- not urban in background, although they will be moreso in their college experiences.

I've been looking at:

http://www.tiffany.com/shopping/group.aspx?c_id=WEB1&c_it=GRP0002&start_id=66&CategoryId=15&category=Jewelry
(the initial pendant)

Is this too stylized?
http://www.tiffany.com/shopping/group.aspx?c_id=WEB1&c_it=GRP0002&start_id=66&CategoryId=15&category=Jewelry&

hearts-wise:

But part of me (the old lady part???) wants to get:

or

and then I just found:

both of which I really like.

What do you guys think?

Oh, Dizzymom, you are an absolute doll to be so concerned about the perfect gift for these girls! I actually love, love, LOVE the pearl bracelet and would be ecstatic if I received one as a graduation gift. (But then again, I'm the type of girl who wears a pearl necklace - sometimes several - and diamond studs every day, so my jewelry taste definitely runs on the more timeless side.) I also think the idea of a purse mirror is adorable and very classy, but for $185 I'd rather have jewelry.

While I like the idea of pearls the best, I also like

and

While everything else you've picked out is sooo cute, that's my one qualm with it - its cuteness factor. Probably stuff the girls would love now but get sick of wearing in a year or so. I'd suggest some of the other things that they can wear throughout their lives.

Ok, I will just give you my impressions in numerical order.

I don't like it. The dragonfly seems passe and childish.

Love it

It's ok

LOVE

Same as 4?

It's ok

Like it a lot

I don't like it because it's not complete. It's like a broken heart.

Oh man I would die for pearls

It seems unuseful to me.

Ok

Ok

I am leaning heavily toward the pearls now...

My whole thought has been that I want to give something that will last, and we all know the hearts will be passe before you can say Tobey Maguire.

I was just worried that these girls, being more used to fads than tradition, might look at the pearls and think I'm distressingly out of touch, but I'm caring less and less about that as I grow more and more out of touch, lol.

The only HS graduation present that I still have, weirdly enough, is a sewing kit. It's a basket, about 10" in diameter, lined with printed cotton, that held needles, thread, etc. I still have it, still use it. At the time I thought it was the dorkiest gift in the world, but it turned out to be the only one I still have or can remember.

I got DizzySon the compass from Tiffany today on a whim...a mom thing. gets teary-eyed for the millionth time Something to hand him as we leave him at P. to remind him to stay on course. We gave him a new car for his birthday, so other than a laptop and Princeton tuition, we're doing small graduation gifts...

I love Tobey Maguire...

I LOVE the pearl bracelet!

Tobey's a wussie!

that is FALSE

Nothing could be more true!
