Is it worth giving up going on a fun and rewarding mission trip to go to this? I'd never heard of the Girls State program, but today I was told that I was chosen by my school to go. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one from my school, so it seems like it must be a big deal, but the program sounds kind of cheesy. Is it actually fun? On that note, anyone else in Texas planning on going?

I went to the the Girls State in Indiana. I had so much fun when I went. (I met girls at an engineering thing over the summer that went in Colorado and Missouri who had fun as well.) I don’t know how they organize it in Texas, but it’s held at a college, and each floor of the dorm is a “city” and every four floors make up a county. At least, that’s how we did it in Indiana. And you learn about the government. But here we chilled out a lot in our “town hall” when we didn’t have “government” stuff to do. It’s a once in a lifetime thing, so I’m glad I made the choice to go to Girls State.

Anyways, you have to weigh the pros and cons of each thing to choose which one to do. Girls State is only available to you once in a your life, and there will always be other mission trips you can go on, just some food for thought.

I had SO much fun at Girls State. It’s organized the same way as mentioned above.

Girls State is a HUGE honor. [Boys/Girls State - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href=“Boys/Girls State - Wikipedia”>Boys/Girls State - Wikipedia)

A lot of colleges give scholarships for Girls State. (A local college gives 20k a year)

There are other threads about this on here so I’d search “Girls State” on this forum.
