girls: which bag do you use to carry your books/notebooks/laptops around

OMG PlattsburghLoser is a girl!!!

that said, if you plan on carrying around a laptop, a messenger bag strap can dig in your shoulder if you’re not careful. i don’t own a backpack but i thought about getting a camelback so that i could carry around a few notebooks and pencils and put whatever i want in the drinking part of it. (read: go to parties and get drunk without having to worry about setting my glass down somewhere and you know…)

I have a messenger bag from H&M. I put my junk in it and it works. And it was like $15.

I didn’t think Plattsburghloser was a girl either until I saw the shopping thread XD

I used to carry the swiss laptop bag for school since it’s light and it can hold a lot of stuff. Now that the zipper’s broken because I kept overstuffing it, I’m going to use a Harajuku messager bag I bought on sale. Feels weird carrying it to school but it’s pretty big and strong (Let’s hope I don’t overstuff it again).

Are my pixels manly or something? :(

^ I was once told that because I type in complete sentences and not leik dis lololol I come across as masculine.

^ Haha, I see. Maybe I should get a new username like “xoxosparklypinkprincesskinsxoxo.” No more confusion.

^^but your name is abby…0_o

i really want to order a bag from urban outfitters…they have lots of biggish ones…to use for school, but apparently they’re crappy. & severely over-priced :/

Have you tried looking for the same bag on eBay (well, maybe not eBay. I feel like I’m always on the verge of getting scammed on that site…but a similar site), or I’ll go on Macy’s or Amazon, where they have product reviews from customers, find a bag that seems sturdy based on reviews and (attempt) to get it for the lowest price.

I have lots of tote bags that I use for this along with some giant purses…
I think I’m going to carry my laptop in a laptop pouch and just stick it in the tote bag.

theycallme…my daughters both have used bags from urbanoufitter, and have for a few years. The same bags have really lasted- straps, lining, zippers. And the leather still looks good after lugging around computer, highschool books, getting thrown in the back of cars, taking the train, etc.

We didn’t spend more than 70 for any of them.

My suggestion is to look for bags with:

Wide straps
Pockets on the inside for easy access to phone, change
if possible, an out side pocet, but not as necessary as an inside pocket or two
A good coler that will last a few years- nothing to in your face if you know what I mean

If you order a bag, look at the dimensions listed and make sure it can hold a binder. And its best if the bottom isn’'t to narrow, if it has a little of a flat bottom, you can put alot in it.

Also, strange to say, but my D also found a couple of great bags at betsey johnson, on sale of course, but good proportions. Especially for makeup bags- they seem to last forever and you can get a great deal

My d has a makeup bag from betsey johnson, cost 25 bucks and is in great shape after 4 years.

Still “checking up” on me I see. You’re one crazy old woman.
By the way, f**k off.

woah…

Is there an explanation for this…?

Another one of these threads? Purse vs. Backpack war in 5, 4, 3, 2…

WantsBrown, something tells me it’s not about that :P

ebags has some great tote bags for women. Someone on here mentioned the ella jansport bag to me and I bought it and love it. It fits everything I need, my laptop, a binder three notebooks my small makeup and pencil case and I belive the outside is water proof.

North Face makes excellent backpacks but if your tiny you may want to try them on at a store because the back part is a little big.

i have a pinstriped dickies backpack.
tre chic, non?
anyway, it was on clearance for 8 bucks,
and im hoping that the longevity of dickies’
workpants translates into their backpacks as well.

I carry a black and rawhide Eastsport backpack that I got for around $5 at a garage sale, and boy does it take a beating. Because the bottom is completely rawhide it isn’t anywhere near ripping despite being dragged, dropped, kicked, overstuffed, and whatnot. It’s not a laptop bag but my laptop is far too old, clunky, and slow to take to class anyway, so it suffices for my purposes. Needless to say I’m not too concerned with fashion.

backpack ftw!

Whatever tote you get, make sure it has a zip pocket or zups up alltogether. if you are traveling via subway, you don’t want to make it easy for someone to reach in.

When touring colleges, we saw every kind of bag- backpack, messenger, traderjoes tote, large purses, etc- being used by gitls, just use what works for you

My daughters just like the purses. Go with what you like. Its not a big deal euther way.

You don’t really need a big industrial stlye back pack though. You won’t have all your classes right in a row, you no need to carry lots of bocks, expect to study.
