Girls

Are the squirrels cuter than the girls?

Is it really that bad.

I'm sure that depends entirely on how interested you are in squirrels.

When I visited, there were definitely some attractive girls on campus.

Everyone says that the girls are pretty bad here (the guys are still worse), but I don't know why. I think we're a pretty normal campus. And seeing as how pretty much every guy I've met here has an Asian fetish... well, yeah, you won't have much of a problem if that's the case. There's something like 10 white male - Asian female couples in my house of 70. I'm one of them.

I'll try to put aside my usual angsty feminist slant on this question to answer it seriously.

Girls are not "pretty" in the sense that the vast majority do not dress up for class. Very little makeup among the female population. Very few name brands. Very few hair blow-outs. Some girls like to dress up, but when they dress up, it's in clothing that they could have spent gobloads of money on or could have gotten at a thrift store. (Chicago has a lot of thrift stores that recycle trendy clothing).

Some girls here are absolutely beautiful, in the way that they have nice facial features and nice other features. They're also confident, smart, and strident. Some not-biologically-blessed okay-looking girls become beautiful, because they too are confident, smart, and strident.

I would say the same is true for males. A lot are just plain good-looking. A lot are okay-looking. They're pretty much all smart and confident, which amplifies their dateability potential.

As a straight male, I don't think you'll have a problem finding a girl you think is cute. But will she be into you? That's another problem altogether :-)

No wonder. The University only recently changed the name of the program on the study of East Asia from Oriental Studies to East Asian Studies. Maybe you're a product of the school of thought that pretty much shaped Western perspectives on East Asia for a century? The "othering" and all that...disgusting.

Omg unalove... all this time, I was under the impression that you were a girl.

Unalove is a guy!?

The internet makes for interesting situations. But at the same time, it doens't mean that his posts are any less wonderful :)

OMG ferrer, you're an idiot. V_V

Oops, I think you're actually female but just made a grammatical mistake.

OK, beefs, how does being a feminist automatically make her female? I'm a feminist and male. You will stop calling people idiotic and you will stop it right now. Okay? good. If you are representative of the University, I will be very disappointed.

Oh, btw beefs, since you're Christian, I would appreciate an apology :) God is watching, and she doesn't like that you call people idiotic.

None of us are representatives of the university.

LMFAO, I swear the feeling is mutual.

Beefs, are you going to say sorry? You called me idiotic when the very act was actually a reflection on your understanding of what a feminist is. I would at least say sorry if I made such a mistake, and if you're saying that admitting one's fault is a bad thing (you say you'll be disappointed if the typical NU student apologizes for his or her fault), then that's saddening. Certainly a threat to human dignity. I have a feeling God will not like you for this...

sanjenferrer, shut up. You too, beefs.

The only thing I feel sorry for is your lack of critical reading skills.

Oh, wow. So you still don't get the error you made? Not all feminists are female!

as for

It should be:
"I think that as a straight male, you'll have no problem..."

In the prior sentence, "As a straight male" seems to modify "I." This is incorrect.

Now, not only do you lack critical reading skills but also grammatical skills.

It's just slightly ambiguous wording. Whatever. Both of you stop inflating your egos.

Alright, I'm just gonna say that your argument is terribly weak, and I'm gonna go ahead and walk away from this one.
