Unalove, do people at UChicago call people idiotic even when the error is actually on their part? I hope not.

How is my argument weak? There's not even an argument. I was making a grammatical correction.
Unalove, come to my rescue! Tell him he's wrong.

This thread is a prime example of why I don't want to go to UChicago.

Ferrer godarnit, your reading skills are driving prospectives away. Killin me here

Umm, Yngwie's statement was directed at you (You're the one who's affiliated with UChicago).
Your misinterpretation of it reveals a lot about your reading skills.

That just makes three people who don't make sense on this thread. Anyone who wouldn't go to a university because there are idiots running around is looking for a utopian society that doesn't exist. Go to MIT and check out the west end of campus if you want to know what I mean.

I wasn't being serious, but alright. ;)

Don't worry, Yngwie, the UChicago students I know are pretty nice. Beefs is certainly an anomaly.

I'm still disappointed that a UChicago student would accuse me of misreading a statement when really, he was the one who misread it (and in the process, revealed his own lack of understanding of the statement AND a grammatical rule EVEN AFTER I corrected him). Furthermore, he accused me of lacking critical reading skills, calling me idiotic. He also wouldn't admit his own faults and apologize despite being Christian.

Btw, beefs, just in case you don't know, some people out there truly do have low levels of intelligence, and your using the word "idiotic" in derogatory fashion really shows how insensitive you are to such people. So what if they have low IQs? Are they any less of a human being? What would God say about your unfounded intellectual snobbery?

I go off to memorize art history slides and watch South Park, and I come back to this song and dance. Fun!

Not like it adds that much to this discussion at this point, but I am gay female. I often get mistaken for a male through my writing anyway. Even though my grammar is shoddy, my observations about females have been validated. :-)

Back to the OP's question.

I guess the OP has never even seen the squirrels in Hyde Park. Establish your benchmark first. :)

The OP should keep in mind that Chicago has some other places to go fishing: DePaul and Loyola, where he might dazzle prospective dates with his intellect as a UofC student, or Northwestern where he might go for the sympathy vote, coming from the south side.

Heck, he could even go looking at Columbia - the one just south of the loop, not NYC!

'Fishing'?

Ewr. As far as I've seen, U of C girls generally look a lot better than U of C guys. Before anyone rips my head off, I think that most of them are pretty charming and shouldn't have problems getting dates.

But I wonder why no one has started a thread asking about U of C guys? :P

Because girls aren't shallow enough. ^_-;;;

Touche. 10char

Because girls care about personality.... right.....right...... right...... duh!

I would say a low point on the girls side is attire. Women are just not that attractive in my book when they opt for the hipster look (which is oddly pervasive). Incidentally, the hipster genre in general only seems to only be a big phenomenon at Chicago compared to other selective colleges. Perhaps it is a natural outcome of there not being a standard for attire in general (other than the occasionally breached provision against nudity).

The Asian fetish remark seems to be part and parcel of the demographics. Asian students make up an usually high number of students at selective colleges compared to their general presence in the population, and hence it appears that every school at the top of US News is some type of white guy with Asian girl love fest.

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the "hipster" style. Please explain

An iconic hipster figure would be the guy from the Mac commercials who plays Mac. If you do a google image search of terms like hipster college, hipster girls you will get a sense of what I am talking about. Lot of scruffy jeans and old t-shirts. Major hipster shopping places are thrift shops, Urban Outfitters, American Apparel and so on.

Squirrels are cute

Hipster? OH. I thought it was just well-used and worn. Thrift shops? Yea. :)

Awe gross. Hipster style just looks sloppy on 80% of the people that wear it :/
