JV Lacrosse freshman year
JV Field Hockey sophomore and junior year,voted JV most valuable offender
Crew- Helped start team at my highschool during sophomore year. We row through a neighboring high school with a well established program. We hired our own coach for my junior year who helped bring us to the Stotesbury Regatta in Philly. I also row during the summers for a private program. And Fall of my senior year I will row for the same private program (Blood Street Sculls if you're a crewbie). I love crew and it is a huge part of my life</p>

<p>As you can see my athletic history is a bit jumpy, but it took me a while to discover my real sport passion, aka crew.</p>

<p>Volunteering-
A horseback riding program for disabled youth and adults- 3-4 hours a week all year long, week long summer camp in summer
Town library- 5 hours a week summer of 2007
Center for Talented Youth Civic Leadership Institute summer program about 30 hours over 3 weeks</p>

Local Children's clothing store- 20 hours a week summer 2007
French Tutor
English Teacher at a Language School in Suzhou China- 5 hours a week during my 3 week trip to China
Local food store- 12 hours a week this summer and 6 hours a week next year</p>

<p>I dont want to seem like a party pooper, but are you sure that you won in "policy debate"? As a CT resident I know CT is infamous for a super weak extemporaneous style of debate, and that LD is a new phenomenon, yet policy has not been a CT event in years. </p>

<p>I have been very active on the circuit to get students to join national circuit debate, but I am astonished that I have never met you.</p>

its not LD, its definitely a team debate
and its not extemp either you write the speeches before the debate, the only extemp I do is osterweis at Yale</p>

<p>haha ok, thats fair. However, please do not call it policy debate on your application because that is rather misleading. Policy debate also known as cx and team debate is a much different event. If you want to see my conception of policy debate, what colleges will believe you are participating in, go to youtube and watch the NDT videos. </p>

<p>I don't think its fair to conflate a region specific variation of parliamentary debate with policy debate which is a much more developed and distinct activity.</p>
