Hey, I used this forum a TON last year when I was applying, so if anyone has any questions about BU, I’ll answer them as a way of paying back haha.

by the way, i'm in engineering as BME and i am a dean's host.

whats a deans host?

i basically give some tours to prospective freshmen and help out at college of engineering sponsored events.

Do you live in Warren Towers? How in the world does BU handle move-in day for those buildings? Is there a parking lot I haven't seen?

i don't live in warren or towers. i live in the hojo. bu actually does a really good job of accomodating everyone. there are plenty of parking spaces all along comm ave, so that's not really a problem. but if you are going to live in warren or towers, you may want to move in a day or two earlier than you are scheduled to. the other dorms aren't too big, so there really is no big rush or chaos to get in.

how bad is the grade deflation i keep hearing about at bu, especially for a tough major like engineering? is it something significant, or overplayed on the internet?

and how do you like boston? my brother goes to nyu and he's trying desperately to get me to go there also so keeps telling me that boston gets boring after a while, im sure its not true because i love bean town but i'd like to get some reassurance from you :)

Move-in day is sort of a mess in a big dorm like Warren in my opinion. If you move in early, it saves you the hassle. Last year they separated move-in day for last names A-K or something on Sat and then K-Z on Sun. All in all though, it's manageable.

There are several parking lots throughout campus and there is one under Warren Towers.

Grade deflation varies depending on classes, professors, and majors. Some will tell you that it's played up, others will tell you it's true. I do hear a lot of people saying that their friends do so much less work than them in comparable schools and still pull off better grades. This subject is controversial so you're not going to get a clear cut answer.

Personally, I really enjoy both Boston and NYC. They are two completely different cities and it boils down to whatever fits your taste.

The first three floors of Warrent Towers is a parking garage.
