Oh! I was so thrilled to see a thread with my name in the subject! About the double major-thing: All Medill students have a journalism curriculum and another "concentration" to earn their degree. Many Medill students minor in Weinberg subject (besides journalism), and some major in Weinberg subject, although if you are in Medill, you don't get two diplomas - you just get a BSJ with a credit on the bottom that says you filled the requirements for a second major. If you are in Weinberg, you can't get a double major in journalism since Medill is so competitive and structured. I would say that if you really want to major in journalism, apply directly to Medill because it is close-to-impossible to transfer in once you start at NU (but not nearly as hard to transfer out, into Weinberg).

As for your stats - They actually look quite similar to mine last year (my test scores were a little higher, but I think it hardly matters once you hit 1400). Your ECs look good, just make sure your essays and short answers are stellar, and I would say you've got a good shot. It is, however, the writings that will make you stand out, because many many students who apply to Northwestern have your stats and ECs - just show them (in the writings) that you REALLY REALLY want to go to NU. I really think that's what puts people over-and-above the other high-scorers. Good luck! Let me know if I can help you with anything else!
