Global Young Leaders Conference

I received an invitation by e-mail and by post about how I was "invited" to this conference due to my "outstanding academics," except, I really don't have outstanding academics. My grades are slightly above my school average and I have SAT scores of around 2000, which, while high, is definitely no where close to the highest within my school. So I was just wondering whether I was really "selected" or whether invitations to this GYLC are random. What is the program? Does it look good on college applications?

GYLC is not at all selective. I don’t really know how it works, but I am positive that it doesn’t hold weight as an accomplishment on a college profile. However, attending may give you a unique experience, something you can write about in your essay.

The rest, I’ll leave those with more knowledge to answer.
