gluten-free dining?

Hi. Do the dining halls offer gluten-free options? Unfortunately it looks like this will be a necessity for my child and will affect her college options.

Thanks for any information.

Yep! The menu boards over the serving lines detail the allergen content of each item (nuts, dairy, gluten, etc.). This is a new program, and I am not sure if it has reached every servery on campus, but it is certainly at West Servery. Additionally, the individual chefs are usually very accommodating of individual dietary restrictions and would likely be able to prepare a special meal if necessary.

As an upperclassmen, two of the freshman I advised had gluten allergies and they were totally fine! I introduced them both to the head chef at our servery and they had a nice long talk about food options.

Yea, I noticed at Baker servery last year there was also a note if something was gluten free. And there were always a lot of things that got this label.

I have a friend who is gluten-free and she said that she hasn’t really experienced problems with that. In addition, as a student I can see that some of the cooking machines and stuff have been marked for “gluten-free foods only”, so that’s evidently something that the cooking staff pays attention to.

Thanks, that’s really good to know!
