Hello all!

I am fortunate enough to be a Gates Millenium Finalist. I know that, as a finalist, to proceed, I must be Pell Grant eligible. However, I was wondering if there is a minimum amount that we finalists must be eligible for in order to proceed to the next stage?

I recall reading someone's post about how finalists must be eligible for at least $4800 in Pell Grants or something. But, I could definitely be mistaken, and the poster could be wrong. Anyone know any more on this topic?

Thank you all for your time!

yeah i agree 4800 is very high, since the max is 5,300.

I have a pell grant eligibility of 4800, but my EFC is 772 since my parent’s income increased, and I worked too.

I’m guessing you just have to have to qualify, and it doesn’t matter how much. I do feel like they would give the scholarship to someone who has the same credentials as another to the person who needs it the most though.

But c’mon, if we are pell grant eligible, we obviously need it!

^exactly. I hope they don’t go by Pell Grant amount above other things. That wouldn’t be too fair to the others if they were more qualified but had a low pell grant.

Thanks yall for your inputs - making me feel slightly less anxious.

Any past scholars willing to post their EFC’s the year they received the scholarship?

Is it possible for a person to win Gates with a 3.31 Unweighted G.P.A

@geiger42 Yes! Oh, I think if you EFC is anywhere below the half the tuition of the college you’re planning to go to, you shouldn’t worry much. My grant was $5,500. But don’t worry.
